Precisely, although by the time I received the e-mail, the tickets were all sold out. It was kind of useless if you didn't know about it before you got the e-mail--I don't know of anybody receiving the e-mail which led to their receipt of a ticket.

On an unrelated to the above post, but related note, it disappoints me that a lot of people who've been playing this game the whole time missed out on tickets because of the influx of newbs interested in the possibility of a screening, when I thought of it as a sort of large reward and pat on the back for the months of work that we did. The only thing that stops me from full-fledged elitist annoyance is that for the simple fact that most of us didn't realize the tickets were admit two, we can get the other Hypers' backs. But I mean, we all spent months on this for half of the people who got tickets to simply have been lucky enough to see it posted somewhere more public, and I'm tired of hearing others not bothering to look into it before they decide they're going to circumvent the system.

But I'm going to say here and now that if you didn't win a ticket the way the rest of us did, and you don't know somebody who did, I don't see you getting a new ticket. This is really irritating me and I try not to be complainy but I've seen it like 600 times from people who heard about it and think they can call the place and ask really nice for one and get it when I don't even think 42e anticipated the influx of newbs because they didn't post it. I mean again, I don't think it's counter to their purpose of publicizing the movie so I'm at peace with it, but I think if I see another newcomer wondering if they can get a ticket if they contact 42e, I'm going to punch that person.

You won't get an email. People who registered right away for the tickets mistakenly thought that the email that went out (the email with all the HAHAHAHA's and the link to kickingandscreaming) was a confirmation email, when in actuality was sent to everyone who ever registered on one of the viral sites that 42 Entertainment set up...sorta to let people know that this site was out there and if you're lucky, you may get a ticket. Wanted to give everyone who was right there when it was figured out the first shot at it...hence, the delay.

Does any of that make sense, because it does in my head.

its not pointless at all, the harry potter hbp trailer is supposed to be shown, but i think that there wont be any trailers.

I've got just a couple questions for some of you out there.

When you go to a job, do you expect to get paid? Of course.

What if someone else received your paycheck? You'd be a little miffed.

Now, what if... Someone took your check, and then someone came and asked if they could have one too, not looking at the one who really did the work for it? Seems kinda poopy, huh?

Now, I know this wasn't a job. But its the only analogy I could come up with that everyone would understand.

This viral campaign was a lot of work for a lot of us. Not only was it puzzles and all that, it was about word of mouth...telling people about it, and getting more involved with it (hence viral).

To be someone who has only joined just now, because they heard about tickets, makes me angry. Why? Because I've been doing this for a while now. I had to work last night and missed it. Did I complain to 42e? No.

Well...why not? Because I know that (a) this screening isn't the end of the world, and (b) I have friends here that got my back. (thanks, cinematheque, you're my hero!)

Now, if I...someone who has been participating since March (actively on the boards, anywhoo) wouldn't complain to 42, why should you, if you just came here for the free screening?

Moral: Don't be a turd. If you're new to the game and missed out on a ticket, oh well. Life sucks. Wear a ... helmet.

I can understand getting upset if someone who hasn't participated in the virals gets a ticket before you, but just because someone new came to ask for extra tickets doesn't mean you have to get pissed off at them, too. That is just being plain snobbish.

Sorry, I probably wasn't very clear. When I agreed with what was said, I meant it towards the people who were complaining last night that the screening had sold out so fast. They were saying that it was unfair, etc, etc. This happened shortly after all the tickets sold out (which was in a matter of minutes, of course). Now I think it's safe to assume that a majority of people hadn't even been following the viral, because if they were they would've been at the computer watching the bomb tick (since they were at the computer complaining about it being sold out anyway). There was plenty of time for these people to get a ticket, and had they been watching the clock like the rest of us, they would've gotten it. Of course, most of these people I don't see posting anymore. So I guess they fall under your category of people who just joined for tickets.

I do feel bad for the people who had to work, or who were watching the bat signal, or whose computers crashed. I especially feel bad for the people who had been following it for 14 months, when I had only been following it for a few days, but I don't feel bad for the many people who signed online last night just to complain that they had sold out already. Just wanted to clear my post up a bit

I have a hard time believing they would give out goon masks when the other people who have them now worked hard for them/payed a lot for them. Maybe I'm wrong, then I'll have even more of them, lol.
