The Dark Knight Rises Hugo Strange

You say that without knowing the storyline of the film, nor reading the screenplay.

Impressive .

Anticipation without exaggeration is anticipation not worth having.

Anyone have any idea how Strange would fit into a movie involving Catwoman and a Bane who breaks Batman?
I have been trying to connect all this in my head and I can see Nolan using a fragmented narrative. I wouldn't put it past him. Weren't WB "nervous" about the script?

I think Prey could be a great source of inspiration for this kind of story. Catwoman was in it, and she was related to Strange's fascination with Batman and the things that come with being Batman.

But as with Nolan's other Batman films, I doubt it's just going to be one inspiration. It'll probably have as much influence as Year One had on Begins, or The Long Halloween on The Dark Knight.

Consider the Killing Joke reflections in TDK as potentially reflective of Bane's impact on TDKR, with TLH and Prey being the rest of the core stories respectively.

Hope that makes sense.

Got me fingers crossed, as I haven't been able to get too excited about the Bane announcement.

Is this Jett guy who seems to have had an influential role in the past in regards to news still reliable?

Not typically. He tends to just throw villain names at us, and if one happens to stick (Bane), everyone on his site praises him and magically forgets the dozens of other ones he got wrong (Riddler), regardless of how dead sure he was that they'd be in the film.

I have been mentioning Robin Williams as Dr Hugo Strange for the last couple of months as well peeps.

I hope it happens....seeing Williams as the eerie, intelligent, yet dementedly wicked Dr Strange in Nolans final Bat film would be GREAT cinema!

Williams can play dark and demented characters easily and convincingly....just see his performances in One Hour Photo, Insomnia, and Death To Smoochie.

Don't worry about "cramming".

Nolan isn't Sam Raimi and this isn't going to be Spider Man 3. Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, and Thomas Tull are not Fox, Marvel and Avid Arad.

If Hugo Strange is in this last Nolan Bat film, then he will fit right in with the narrative much like Jonathan Crane did in BB and much like Maroni did TDK.

There is also absolutely nothing wrong with casting someone like Robin Williams in this ensemble either. That is what ensemble casting is all about. Getting good to great actors in roles that may or may not be major ones in a film.

If Williams can't he had as Strange, I would like to see Viggo Mortensen considered.

The more I hear about this film the more I think it's going to be some combination of Prey and Knightfall which if true would be sublime.

^ Yeah, that's my feeling as well. @ Prey + Knightfall

Kinda like TLH and TKJ were infused into The Dark Knight. :applaud

Should be freaking brilliant!

Adding Strange would be too much.

Batman Begins:
Ra's Al Ghul
Scarecrow
Carmine Falcone

The Dark Knight:
Joker
Harvey Dent/Two-Face
Sal Maroni

The Dark Knight Rises:
Bane
Selina Kyle/Catwoman
Hugo Strange

Seems like he fits in just fine.

I would even add the Chechen to the TDK list. I believe he got almost as much screentime as Maroni.

I love the sheer number of sites proclaiming Tom Hardy was going to be Hugo Strange...confirmed by their insightful confidential insider info.

Oh the internetz:woot:

I think we'll be getting:

Bane being a merge between Night Scourge/a Monsterman.

It can be amazing.

Yeah except Nightscourge was a dumb cop that Hugo hypnotized and the monster men were big ugly frankenstein like monsters.

Where does Bane as we knew/know him fit into any of THAT mess?

I mentioned the same thing as Robin91939 earlier today.

It's just fun speculation of course, but Bane would take the place of Cort/Nightscourge from Prey, as well as Hugo having him go after Batman. Knightfall of course would be Bane breaking Batman.

For me the slight and I mean slight similarity to Monster Men would simply be that Hugo gives Bane venom, much like he gives something to make those guys turn into ogres. Except the venom just makes him stronger of course. Basically an experiment on Strange's part.

Not exactly similar in regards to Monster Men, but we're just throwing stuff out there for fun. For all we know, Hugo may not turn out to be in this film in the end anyways. It was just an idea for how they could bring venom into the film. That's even if they decide to use it.

If that was even close to what they are going to do in this next film, I would want, like many other fans, for Bane to surprise Hugo and show that he was using Strange for his own means.

Quite simple.

- Strange will be a criminal psychologist, and the doctor who headed the project that created Bane.

- We can make this occur in Santa Prisca (to be true to Bane's origin), Germany (to suit Hugo Strange), or find some other local. Bottom line, Hugo Strange was the one who created Bane.

- Bane can still be a child damned to serve his father's life sentence, but we can have Strange select him for the Venom experiments.

- Strange comes to Gotham hired as a consultant to bring in The Batman. He is highly respected and world renown, no one knows of his dark past in experimenting on patients.

- Bane comes to Gotham, it is unknown his connection to Strange, but we find out in the end that he came in a grand scheme designed by Strange.

- Or have Bane brought in as a mercenary brought in by Strange to hunt Batman.

- We can still get the smart, competent Bane as well as a manipulative Strange. Strange is brought in to profile the Batman as he is in Prey.

- Bane is brought in to hunt the Batman as he does in Knightfall and as does Night Scourge in Prey.

- Bane obtains his "super strength" from Venom experiments headed by Strange in an adaptation of Batman and the Monster Men where Strange experiments on people turn them into hulking, brutes...only Bane will remain intelligent.

If you want, have Bane, in the end, betray Strange--taking his freedom and life back, maybe even have him kill Strange.... Leaving a mono y mono bout between Batman and Bane to end the flick.

Police, Mob, whoever: Dr. Strange, we want you to come to Gotham to help us bring down the Batman.

Dr. Strange: You got it. *calls Bane* Bane, I want you to come to Gotham to help us bring down the Batman.

Bane: You got it.

Little bit repetitive.

Hahaha! Don't think it would go down just like that. Not to mention we have no idea if Strange will even be asked by the cops to take down Batman like in the comic.

Not really. Strange knows he isn't a physical threat to Batman. Using this hunt for Batman as a field test to his Venom/Bane project would be something Strange would jump at.

That would be sweet!!!! I guess collecting the first 30 issues of LOTDK will have paid off if they go that route; god I love sitting on a comic fortune!!! :woot: :hrt:

I think that'd be cool!!! Honestly, if that was the case, I'd feel Bane would be playing a smaller note than Strange; and honestly, I think Bane should be the main villain. I think the only reason he'd honestly go Strange would be for more Venom, since he helped create the compound. I guess it could still work if one of the characters weren't aware that the other was in Gotham, or something of the like. :word:
