The Dark Knight Rises Hugo Strange

Awesome trailer. Hugo Strange looks great there. First game was amazing - can't wait for this one!

If strange was the planned villain nolan's had in mind why would he go for hardy to play him? Strange by all accounts in a balding middle aged man who is not particularly good looking.

Even in that pretty good manic posted above with a bald and bearded tom something seems off like its pretty obvious he's just a good looking guy with a shaved bald head. I don't think anyone would try to cast a handsome actor to portray the penguin?

I think the same could be said for Heath Ledger, and that seemed to work out pretty well.

On another note, they need to just release a movie using the Arkham City cgi, straight to video, it would be fantastic!

Normally, I'm not a fan of CGI films, but the trailer did look really good.:yay:

I find it hard to believe that Hugo will be the villian for both the game and the next movie.

Although the trailer was cool, I certainly hope Hugo - if he's in the movie- doesn't talk like that. He sounds kinda ridiculous.

In what way? His dialogue or his dialect and actual manner of speaking?

I understand not liking the lines- a bit villain cliche but the voicework was incredible imo.

But in any case, that's nothing to worry about. Heath sounded nothing like Hamill. They do their own thing.

At least if Hugo Strange isn't in TDKR you can get a good fix through the game. That was some really good cgi , of course , good enough for an animated film if you ask me.

All of it. His dialogue is over the top, he's over the top.

Its just cliche cliche cliche.

Yes, that's pure Hugo Strange from his original appearance, but it's just cheesy and dated. The character deserves better.

The voicework is decent. Nothing special.

You could say that about pretty much the entirety of the first game, really.

...Well, excusing the last sentence - mostly.

I think everything about this game series is intentionally over the top.

Agreed 100%. It was crap, crap, megacrap.

My stance is the exact opposite. I think him being a prominent villain in the game could be an important set-up to establish him for being introduced as a major villain in the movie. As has been stated by many, Hugo Strange is a total unknown amongst non-comic fans. Giving him a major role in the game could help amend that to some degree.

Well, this game was announced 12 december 2009. So they have been working on it since a bit earlier than that. Do you really think anybody knew what Nolan and Goyer had in mind for TDKR?

I dunno, I don't figure Nolan to be the type to consider this sort of thing an influence on his choices.

Damn it was just a teaser trailer for a video game, can you judge after you play the game at least to say Hugo deserves better. Besides Batman cartoon shows (BTAS & The Batman) is the only time Hugo has gotten screen time so far, he's a good classic villain but he's not on Joker's or even Two Face's level.

Warner Bros. released a couple new screenshots today, including this one of Hugo Strange:

I do think that putting Hugo in the game makes it more likely that he´ll be in the next movie, after all HS doesn´t have the mainstream recognition of a Joker or a Catwoman, and the game, which clearly is inspired by Nolan´s take on Batman, although with a touch of Burton as well, will sell like hotcakes. Plus, the game also has Catwoman, which makes me a bit more confident that she´ll be in the movie after all.

HS was always a good possibility for the Nolan movies, a villain that perfectly fits his more grounded and real take on the character, and there are great possibilities in a villainous psychologist who has an obsession with Batman.

For goodness sake, ANOTHER villain with an English accent? Come on guys... what's the deal with this American fetish?

If the game is any indication of who the film's villains are going to be then it's either a great marketing strategy or a funny coincidence . However the game is based on Arkham so it makes sense for Hugo to appear . I'm now at the point where I won't be surprised if they do name Strange for TDKR though.

Especially that boss fight with the Joker. OMG, taking Titan not only gives you super muscles, but a mohawk as well. :wow:

It reminded me of the battle with the buffed up Riddler in the Batman Forever video game. It's bad enough to get your back broken by Bane, but... drag queen Riddler on steroids? Really?

The fact of some characters being in the game it does not mean they will be in the movie, too.
Just saying.

Has Hardy been confirmed as Hugo Strange?

The last I read, he would play a "major role" but unclear whether that was a hero or villain. To me, it sounds like he's playing Max Cort based on that description.

If Hugo Strange is in the film, I suspect it will be portrayed by a middle aged actor and the announcement will send forums into a tizzy.

It doesn´t, but jives with recent rumors that Strange will be Hardy´s role, and that the storyline is based on Prey, which features HS.

Are you guys familiar with the actual games and played the first? It's incredibly fun but "over the top" and "villain cliche" are about the most correct ways to describe it. The ending is so over the top that I didn't even like it, but the rest was boss cool:o

Clearly inspired by Nolan? I'm sorry but are you kidding? There's not a single Nolan inspired thing in these games and just about nothing Burton either, it's all 100% comics. It's like playing a Jim Lee/Frank Miller comic book. You really need to educate yourself with their All Star line if you seriously think this is inspired by Nolan. Batman is swinging from gargoyles every 5 seconds. Scarecrow in the game is a Freddy Kruger-like demon whose hallucinations transform Batman into a little boy and makes him see his dead parents before floating in a giant Salvador Dali-like world where Scarecrow is 100 feet tall. Jim Gordon is portrayed as a muscled out guy as massive as Batman, Bane weighs about 1000 pounds and 10 feet tall, and Killer Croc is a monster the same size. I've read a lot of comics and this game is about the most over the top portrayal Batman has ever gotten. Well besides the time he wore rainbow costumes in 1957.:o
