Endgame Hulk/Bruce Banner - Mark Ruffalo

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one disappointed by the evolution of the Hulk. For me it really started with AOU. All the movies from that point took what was one of if not the best part of the first Avengers movie and made the Hulk an after thought. Don't get me wrong I love the Marvel Movie Universe, but the way in which the HULK was constantly downgraded really disappointed me. And what really got me is that I really thought the HULK was going to get his mojo back in Endgame. I was really looking forward to the HULK playing a Major part in finishing off Thanos.
Except he was a major part of taking down Thanos. His use of the Gauntlet was why there was an army to face off against Thanos' forces at the finale.

I made that connection myself in the cinema, definitely felt like a callback to me

Honestly didn’t know where to post this, so I’m posting it here. I just rewatched 2003 hulk in 4K and oh my goodness he is green!! Like really green! I know the hulk is supposed to be green, but I mean he was over the top jolly green giant green.. I don’t remember him being that green on the blu Ray.. Has anyone else picked up the 4K and noticed this ?

Update: I just watched the Blu-ray again and he was clearly not as green as the 4K disc made him out to be. I actually like the look and feel of the movie on blu Ray. I guess some movies should not be upgraded .

The color palette on the Hulk CGI was commented on a lot at the time of release.

What? I've had no major issues with MCU Hulk. Granted I do wish he was involved more in IW and End Game but I am happy with his aesthetics. However.... I am disappointed we will never see Hulk HULK out again. He really did need his own movies.

Avengers: Endgame writers reveal their original Smart Hulk plans at SDCC

“Smart Hulk was in the third act of Infinity War,” Markus revealed. “We wrote it, we shot it, and went on to shoot most of Endgame, and he achieved union with the Hulk while inside the Hulkbuster. He kicked Cull Obsidian’s ass. But it didn’t work. It was the wrong tone for the movie. But we had already shot Endgame, where he was already Smart Hulk.”

“A big sequence where you see the union takes away from the attention of the story. A scene where Hulk eats a stack of pancakes [...] I’ve never seen that in a movie,” Markus said.

Terrible.

A Hulk and She-Hulk mini-series feels like it would cost too much but I would so love to see it.

Getting the rights is definitely the ideal scenario.

I already hated that they’d made Hulk smaller but I do wonder why they made him so much smaller going from 8’2 to 7’5 and noticeably reduced in mass also.

I didn't like this also, it's particularly noticeable in the final battle just after Cap says "Avengers..... assemble!" and they start running. Hulk doesn't look that much bigger (both in height and overall bulk) than those around him, when he should in fact be ................... well, a Hulk! Thor is standing in front of him here looking only a few inches smaller -

Contrast that with the difference between them in Ragnarok

With that said, I understand why they had to do it - the bigger he physically is, the harder it is to sell the idea of him now being Professor Hulk and placing him in more normalised situations like sitting in a cafeteria. Personally though I'd have left him big.

I'd also love to know why the Hulks wears glasses, ever.

I guess it's easier to buy him as smarter when he's smaller.

That really bugged me, how I really had to look for Hulk and like you say he looks small next to the other characters.

So the directors commentary confirmed that in Infinity War, Banner and Hulk were supposed to come to a "compromise" at the end of that movie and Smart Hulk would emerge from the Hulkbuster at the end, which was rumored at one point. He would have beaten Cull Obisidian and then Black Widow would have done the "sun's getting low" bit only for Smart Hulk to say "I don't need it anymore". But they realized it was just too much to throw in at the last minute on top of Thanos getting the stones and snapping everyone.

Good decision on their part. Lesser directors would have included it only for it to get lost in the shuffle at the end.

Every time they give an interview or commentary it’s crystal clear they had no idea how to approach the character.. It would have been better had he been left on planet sakaar and saved for another director/writer team that understood the character and would actually take time to properly build the arc and not play it for laughs... I absolutely love the Immortal Hulk.. for everything that the Ruso’s And Markus/Mcfeeley have got wrong about the character the comic writers have done well with. So at least Hulk fans have the comic.

So I just realized that Bruce (not really Hulk) got his re-match when he snuffed Thanos at the farm in his HB armor... Does that count?? LOL
