Comedy I just watched Scooby-Doo....

Did he really do Never Been Kissed and Big Mama's House? My girlfriend LOVES those. I'll have to tell her.

And I liked the movie. Whereas I don't personally care for Freddie Prinze Jr or SMG, I only watched it because I'm such a fan of Shaggy and Scooby and even though a lot of people say they didn't like it, MANY have admited that the did get Shaggy and Scooby right.

Expect more in the sequel which I am REALLY looking forward too (much more than Spider Man II).

Fool.

Oops... What was I thinking....

And for this reason, you call me a fool?

Are you the president of esther's fan club, or just some other moron.

Get a life, dick-head...

But you had to be a fan of the original cartoons in order to get all the subtleties found in the movie: all Scooby & Shaggy being stoners innuendoes, Scrappy's appearance, the insights behind Fred, Daphne & Thelma's characters.... It was all there in complete parody form that made me laugh while remembering the repititious campy-ness of the original cartoons.
Now I had heard a lot of crappy comments about this movie, and I'm sure some will follow in this thread. That being said, I'm almost positive that the origins of these comments will come from the mouths of those 25 years old and younger who weren't first generation Scooby-Doo watchers. If you didn't watch the originals, I can see how you would think the movie sucked... because you just didn't get it.
In hindsight, while I'm remembering more and more about the movie, the more I think it was brilliantly written. The only mistake the writers made was that they wrote it for the 70's generation who watched the originals, but only to be scrutinized by the 90's generation who think everything is crap.

Just my two cents...

Cheers... :batman:

you dumb fook.

Awwwww, you said a bad word, you big potty-mouth...:)

Hey, if you're ever in the downtown area in Ottawa, check out a record store called "Birdman Sound". In the 45 section, I believe they have copies of my band's 2nd & 3rd single (they used to have the first one years ago). I don't care if you buy it, but if you look at the back credits, you'll see me listed as vocalist as "The Man of Bat". And you'll get to see my ugly mug...

Oh yeah, the band's name is "Bad Luck No.13".... from the Maritimes. :)

kool, i definatley check that out. that store is pretty close to where i work so maybe my next pay i'll go in and pick it up. (i don't know when i'll be around a record player to hear it though.)

I think the movie was just plain dumb, but it's not like you can say they were working for an Oscar. The only good parts I thought, were the (sometimes subtextual) non-kid parts. You can definetly see that they tried to appeal to more than just kids. The really bizarre thing, is if you look at imdb for the movie, and then click on alternate versions, and see what they took out. They were actually considering putting that stuff in the movie, that's pretty shocking to me, but those scenes reaffirmed what most people were thinking about some of the characters anyways.

Well geez, it's not like I was expecting "Dead Poet's Society". Of course I knew I was going to watch a silly Scooby-Doo movie. Keeping that in mind, I thought it was great the way they handled "mystique" surrounding the characters that have been kicking around since the early 70's. To many fans, the Scooby-Doo cartoon started to go downhill when Scrappy made his first appearance in 1979, so it was pure genius, in my opinion, to make him the villain.

Cheers... :batman:

Why watch crappy movies like this when you can be watching Spider-man on DVD?

Well, if you LOOK at the date that this thread was started, you will clearly see that it was last week end, when the Spider-Man DVD had yet to be released. :)

haha. I'd have to say that I enjoyed Scooby Doo too... you kinda have to like it when you have an obsessed niece. :)

What pisses me off is they had the perfect actor for Daphne in this movie... playing someone else.
