Infinity War "I Will Bathe The Starways In Your Blood!" The Thanos / Josh Brolin Thread - Part 1

Did he know back in 2010/11 when he was cast as Thanos that this would it would culminate in? Or did he just think it was a 1 time role even though it was a cameo back then?

Brolin wasn't cast until 2013 when he played him for the first time in Guardians of the Galaxy, which was more of an extended cameo. Thanos was portrayed by a different actor in his Avengers cameo. But everyone knew by the time he was cast that Thanos would play a huge role in these movies, so yeah, it's pretty safe to say he knew too.

You're right about the first part, of course, but the title would have to make sense, at minimum.

I don't see how "Secret War" would qualify. That suggests something covert, A4 will probably be the opposite, basically an all-out galactic struggle.

I don't agree. Especially if we're going with multiple realities and such. It works. Further, the Age of Ultron lasted 2 days. Not much of an "age"

There is only 1 shot in Avengers that bothers me. It's the shot of Thanos's hand when he is getting out of the chair. It's clearly a human hand.

Will he ever complete the gauntlet? In scene with Cap he has just 2 stones and it seems like near the end of the movie. Maybe in A4 he will gain omnipotence or maybe there will be a giant battle between Thanos and all the heroes for the last missing stone and Thanos will be defeated and will never get all 6 stones.

Him getting all of the stones, even for the briefest moment is too good of a scene to pass up. We might see the gauntlet go into overdrive right before some tactic that is used to disable and destroy it.

I think it'd be beyond disappointing to do all of this and not follow through and have Thanos acquire all of the stones. I almost feel like he HAS to have them all for this story to truly feel complete. Even if some of what happens is reversed (or isn't) I think that it's integral he completes the Gauntlet and gets to utilize it, no matter how brief that may be.

It would definitely feel like a cop-out if Thanos doesn't complete the Gauntlet.

It would be the biggest cop out, honestly. It would make the entire build up of this storyline fall flat.

They won't Last Jedi this.

What would be the point of having Thanos in two movies if he doesn't even get all the stones? I know The Last Jedi has its fans, but honestly it would be the equivalent of that or even worse, because of how much build-up there has been towards that moment. I know it was a long time ago, but just look at this IW teaser that came out back in 2014? I believe they have been planning it since the start IMO.

I agree, he has to complete the gauntlet. But, nothing says he has to complete it in Infinity War. He can complete it in Avengers 4 and I would still be happy.

Seems the EW interview has finally given us confirmation on Thanos' size.

"Josh is terrifying,"*Tom Holland says.*"He has to wear this stupid mo-cap costume with big, rolling polystyrene shoulders and a tennis ball two feet above his head. He looks ridiculous, but as soon as the cameras roll he becomes this nine foot tall, terrifying alien."

I am not sure if that is the actual height. 9 feet seems overkill. I am almost certain he is around 8 feet maximum. That quote seems like an overgeneralisation.

Agreed, but the finale of A3 is the logical moment for it to happen. That's how you end on a high note, and leave people wondering how Thanos could ever be defeated.

The one issue is how to plausibly connect 3 to 4 with such a powerful character in charge of the universe.

I guess some of the events of those movies may precede the events of A3 (or at least Captain Marvel). So maybe Ant-Man and the Wasp is the movie that covers the transition, and they escape notice, essentially, or seem too insignificant to be a threat?

Could be, I guess.

Huh. That BTS pic actually looks more like Thanos than he did on screen. Maybe it's the angle and lighting.

I really liked how The Sanctuary looked in A1. They did a great job with it.

Oh, most definitely. It doesn't have to be in IW, I'd be happy with it happening in Avengers 4 as well...just as long as it actually happens, that's all that matters.

Cool. "Interchangeable head sculpture". There's my new antenna ball!

In the cut scene in Avengers, I always said his hand looked just...like a human hand. His face looked fine, but man that hand shot never looks right to me.

The actor is actually one of the thugs of Civil War, the one who threatens to Widow to drop the virus.
