Will he ever complete the gauntlet? In scene with Cap he has just 2 stones and it seems like near the end of the movie. Maybe in A4 he will gain omnipotence or maybe there will be a giant battle between Thanos and all the heroes for the last missing stone and Thanos will be defeated and will never get all 6 stones.

I think he's gonna get all the stones by the end of the movie, and do exactly what Gamora says he wants to do. *snaps fingers, wipes out half the universe*

Speaking broadly, it has always made sense for Infinity War be about the acquisition of the stones, and A4 (Infinity Gauntlet, or whatever the title ends up being), to be about the desperate attempt to somehow confront and defeat Thanos once he is nigh-omnipotent.

That second part is really the main focus of the original Infinity Gauntlet comic series.

So that is probably A4. I don't seem them coming this far and never having Thanos complete the gauntlet.

I am still thinking Avengers 4 is Secret War. While based on Infinity Gauntlet, I think they will make Thanos basically God Doom's substitute, and the Secret War title follows the progression of Civil War and Infinity War. Remember, Feige said Avengers 4's title would be a massive spoiler and Gunn said the title is not Infinity Gauntlet. Secret War is the only other ones that makes sense to me.

Tony Stark foreshadowed it in Age of Ultron. The title for the fourth film will be Avengers: [BLACKOUT]Triple Yahtzee[/BLACKOUT].

So we may get a Battleworld scenario?

I am still thinking Avengers 4 is Secret War.

Would "Secret War" really be a big spoiler, though, if the plot is based more on the Infinity Gauntlet story?

What happens with Doom in Secret Wars is relevant because it's another example of a villain becoming omnipotent, but the rest of the Secret Wars story is a very contrived "battleworld" plot that doesn't seem like it would be a big inspiration.

Also, in what sense would the war in A4 be "secret"? That doesn't seem to really fit.

"Infinity Gauntlet" may very well not be the actual title. Just not a great title, imho, very similar to Infinity War, and kind of redundant, since we will already see the gauntlet being assembled in A3.

But "Secret War" doesn't seem likely to me. They have probably come up with something else.

I think Thanos will complete the glove with all stones in A4.
He is the big baddie from both parts. Perhaps the other villains like the black order dies in A3(or some of them) and he will get some help then.

And the fight will be intergalactic, with new carachters like Cap Marvel, some from A3 and others like ant man.

The "I hope they remember you" line says to me that Thanos has some respect for whoever is on the receiving end. He sees them as honourable... but he must complete his quest no matter what.

Very chilling line. He probably feels a sense/smidgen of remorse for what he's about to do, but he's committed to his goal.

Love that line reading by Brolin. So much sympathy in his voice-- Between that and the tender gesture of lil' Gamora grabbing his pinky, they're really already doing a good job making him seem multi-dimensional already in the trailer. I have a feeling that the Russos and M & McF got this.

Title of A4 SPOILED!!!

Avengers 4:
The Search for Stark

Remember, Age of Ultron resembled the comic story in basically no way, but they used the title. I'd also say, they keep saying Ant-Man and the Wasp is essential to Avengers 4, and possibly THE most essential. That makes the prospect of the multiverse being very important to Avengers 4 very likely. This furthers my theory it will be Secret War.

The problem is, if Thanos collects all the stones, and uses the gauntlet, and does indeed change reality, how would those surviving people (heroes, aliens, or otherwise) even know anything was different? From their perspective, their reality would be perfectly normal.

The comparison would be someone telling you that the life you lead and everything you are isn't real, and that you have another life that was erased from existence along with half the population of the known universe.

In the comic story, I'm pretty sure everyone knew that people had just disappeared.

The title will be "The Thanos Imperative" imo. It will have nothing to do with Secret War and basically be a loose adaptation of Infinity Gauntlet. The loose part of it will involve Ant-Man jumping into another reality through other means to find the "soul stone" perhaps?

I could see the Soul stone not being in IW.

He didn't use the Reality stone when he "snapped" in the comics. He used the Soul stone to kill 1/2 of life. He didn't warp reality, he didn't change perception.

Even if it ends up bearing more resemblance to Thanos Imperative or Infinity Gauntlet, I am still thinking they are adopting the Secret War name. Again, the MCU does not directly adapt any one story. They are going to be using elements of many cosmic stories, but I think Secret War is the name they will use.

Again to illustrate my point, see Age of Ultron

Possibly. I just don't see that whole Battleworld scenario playing out. Why would Thanos even care to create that? I just don't understand.

I don't think he will be making Battleworld. But, once the Gauntlet is complete, he will be effectively God of the MCU. So, they may be toying with like a God Thanos idea. Also likely what Thanos does will involve the multiverse (possibly trapping the heroes in a pocket dimension or something...but not necessarily "Battleworld"). I think they keep saying Ant-Man and the Wasp is vital to Avengers 4 for a reason, so it must be the multiverse idea.

I fully believe some of the stones are digitally removed in that Cap/Thanos shot at the end because in one of the behind the scenes vids (can't quite remember which one) one of the crew opened the prop box and had the gauntlet with 4 of the stones, just time & soul (or mind) missing!

Small observation here, but it kind of bugs me that articles and other people online are questioning why he only wants to wipe out half of the universe.

The obvious answer to me being that he still needs a universe to facilitate his own existence? So destroying all of it literally makes no sense?

Now once he completes the gauntlet, those circumstances can certainly change...but then again maybe not because Gamora is clearly saying the intention is to wipe out half AFTER he has them all...

Like do we not recall Peter Quill's exact rationale for why he wanted to SAVE the galaxy? Because he lives in it? You need a foundation to live off of, people, come on!

I don't know, it's just eye rolling to hear people question it. Like if they themselves had the stones, they'd be so quick to destroy everything, it just sounds like they'd somehow forget to keep themselves safe haha.

yea, it sounds like how ras al ghul wants to wipe out most of humanity to bring balance to the earth - but this is on a whole galactic scale, with thanos.

You're right about the first part, of course, but the title would have to make sense, at minimum.

I don't see how "Secret War" would qualify. That suggests something covert, A4 will probably be the opposite, basically an all-out galactic struggle.
