I don't like it either, but you have one of the biggest stars on the planet playing Mystique. So that's how it is.

That picture looks so strange. What the hell is making it look that way?! Is it the color that's so different?! It's the spots that are way darker right? The actual skin color is light and the spots are overly dark?! I'm pretty much asking here folks because it looks SO off I really can't tell wtf it is.

They weren't great, but it was nice to see some effort to individualize their looks. They were close. If they'd have worked on them a bit more they could have been something special.

Are the individual costumes from the end of X:A in the laundry?

Weren't they flight suits in FC? Maybe it's because they're heading to outer space, and they need something to regulate their bodies.

I actually think that makes it looks quite good. First Class make-up was pretty bad at times, and DOFP/Apocalypse just didn't measure up to Rebecca Romijn's look. This time they realised that Jlaw's Mystique would never be like that and went in a different direction. I think that's a good thing.

Makes sense. They won't be in them for the whole movie. I still think we'll see some more individual suits and we've already seen Cyclops in civvies as well.

As she's become more famous they've had to tone down her makeup and make her look more like Jennifer Lawrence.

All the scales on her face have pretty much gone except for the design on her forehead and cheeks.

Heh, yeah. It didn't look too bad in most of DOFP though. The shiny dark paint for the outside shots in Apocalypse was absolutely terrible though.

If we ever get Mystique in the MCU, I hope she doesn't have any scales but completely smooth skin this time round like in the comics. And she needs to wear a white dress.

I don't think we'll be getting her so quickly though as she's been done to death.

It's something First Class did. It was a bizarre choice and the rest of these films have been building on it. I'm just used to it now.

What a vast improvement. Felt like she was getting progressively worse.

First Class was weird cause it felt like her scales were BIGGER then ever, and since they were the same color as her skin, they didn't create any variations. They looked like some weird skin disorder. Also, why was she turquoise?

DoFP at least made her proper blue again, and her scales went back to darker blue, but she just looks oily and wet.The scales looked like they were just quickly thrown on with no thought. And suddenly she has eyebrows!


XMA gave her back her "natural" looking hairline, and make her eyebrows red. But she still looks bad in most scenes (and still wet!)...


Now we have a comic accurate hair do, hair color, and skin tone! The few scales left have TEXTURE and a dynamic flow to them. Not just random dots. Her pupils are bigger, and she has a variation of blue pigments to her skin. It creates something more life like, and less Halloween costume.And yes, I love the darker lip. Contrast!

It likely will since the chance to fix elements of both continuities as well as put dozens of Marvel superheroes on screen is too good an opportunity to pass up. And there are literally four stories to choose from for this. Secret Wars, Age of Apocalypse, House of M and Secret Wars 3.
