The Dark Knight Rises Ideas For Incorporating Characters Into the Nolanverse

I know right, i went one way and bam pow right in the kisser, just when you think there gonna do something bam curveball hit you right in the face.
I never would have seen it coming!!!

In all honesty, we're probably not going to guess how a character is used in the next film. I mean, before Batman Begins came out, how many people had the Scarecrow as the head at Arkham? How many people even thought Ra's al Ghul would appear without his Lazarus Pits? Who would've even thought that the Scarecrow's fear toxins would be played off as being similar to common street hallucinogens? Not many.

who had thought cranes toxin was from a himalayan flower

I think scarecrow is key to the story development, He was the underdog villian that was given a raw deal twice now, this should continue for the 3rd... Somehow if we step back a bit, The Scarecrow may have been part of a bigger puzzle...

What we know...

Scarecrow was captured at the begining of the dark knight, we know the joker was also captured... What we deduct is that both Scarecrow and Joker went to Arkham...

Maybe that will be utilised in the 3rd movie, plus you have to think about the development of the other characters...

Where does Gordon go from here? he is now comissioner but is forced to chase after the batman even though Gordon knows hes not the bad guy. In my mind the only thing he can do now is be a powerful allie to Batman.

Crane's pretty much stuck between being a pawn and being a drug dealer. He's not going to become much more than that.

I was reading the novel Cemetary Dance by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. It seemed like there was a zombii roaming New York.
It turned out it wasn't a zombii at all; it was a person given some sort of drug--a well explained one at that---that simulated the effects of a zombii. Nasty look, impervious to pain.

Killer Croc could have such a drug that he uses on his gang, giving them a zombii-ish appearance. The dealer could be a woman with red hair and skin so sallow that you can see her veins, giving her an almost greenish hue--Pamela Isley.

That would be interesting, and keep with the versimilitude Nolan's working with.

I think Nolan will stick with easier villains like Riddler or joker

yeah bu he also said once he would try and not do vilains already hving appeared on film

He can still use a villain like the Riddler and use characters that haven't been done before. I've said this a few times, and I'll say it again. There have been 4 villains in each movie, one of which was just a cameo. One villain is the mafioso, a role filled by Carmine Falcone in Begins and Sal Maroni in TDK. It wouldn't be hard to fill this role in the next film as there are numerous members of Batman's rogues gallery that have serious mob connections. The second is the psychopath, which is filled by the Scarecrow in Begins and the Joker in TDK. These villains are pretty much just twisted individuals that hurt Gotham, and most of Batman's rogues gallery would fit in this role. The last type of villain in the Vigilante, which is Ra's al Ghul in Begins and Harvey Dent in TDK. These villains have a good goal, but attempt to meet this goal through death and destruction. This is probably the hardest to fill in, but many of the villains that could fit in the psychopath category could easily be molded to fit this as well. As long as the next Batman movie follows this basic pattern, we should be fine with whoever is used in the next film.

with that black mask as mafia guy, mafioso
lunatic/phsyco-
vigilante-grim reaper, wraith etc

BB3:

Mobster-The Penguin
Psychopath-The Riddler
Vigilante-Catwoman (I would also like to see Freeze work)

why do people want riddler to happen so bad, just a question please don't gang bang me with hate.

after the Joker and Two face he;s the best Batman villain

I think with natural progression, popularity with the character i think The Riddler - is quiet an interesting character. Plus its what every fan boy/girl wish they could do, outsmart the lawful...

It kind of mimics todays world

although i dont think the riddler alone can hold down the movie so you need to have smaller names thrown in there, I actually once wrote a screen play with the riddler, killer croc and clayface... The story was about a chemical The Joker and The Riddler made that was going to be used to break into banks, however The Joker kind of goes his own way and seeks out the batman... that would be Dark Knight... The Riddler then seeks to free the Joker... The riddler has ties to a mop group whose leader is called killercroc, and clayface comes in at the end as a victim of the chemical

I think The Riddler is one of the few villains capable of producing a threat equal or greater than The Joker. I mean, who can compete with a completely psychotic arch-enemy? Most of the other rogues of Batman consist of villains that are kind of out there - examples being Killer Croc, Clayface, and Man-Bat - and the other's are more like mobsters - examples being Penguin and Black mask. Although they are threatening, I really don't think they compare with The Joker.

The Riddler, on the other hand, is very intelligent and could use the current situation that Batman is in to his advantage. In my opinion, The Riddler is capable of doing something no other villain had completely accomplished; Ra's attacked Gotham with fear, The Joker tried to convert Gotham to anarchy, and now The Riddler might convince Gotham to completely go against Batman. Not only would Batman have to fight an extremely intelligent villain, he has to fight against the already hateful spirit of Gotham. Remember, unless the secret of Dent isn't revealed, Batman is a villain to the eyes of the city.

I mean I just never really liked the riddler, growing up reading the comics and never found as that much of a threat, Hush kinda changed that, but now he's good.

I kinda seems natural that a genius would become good, since batman cannot be beaten by him.

I personally want a villain that has the physical ability to beat batman, since we haven't seen one since ra's.

Penguin is an okay character, but I really just imagine a good plan penguin could do to destroy the city.

Mob boss- Penguin or Black Mask
Physical- Bane, killer Croc
Mental- riddler, hugo strange, mad hatter
All could have the ability to destroy the city(cept croc really)

I was just thinking of a way robin could be done.
What if robin was one of the vigilantes. He appears one night to stop a heist which batman happens to be at. Batman tries to disarm him, but the kids acrobatic skills are phenomenal, he flees and batman is unable to follow held up at the heist. During teh story he figures out who the robin is, as do the mafia, he is dick grayson, a circus performer and world class acrobat.
Batman goes as bruce wayne for both press and to watch dick, but during the show tony zucco(a low lvl for black mask) comes in with his gang mafia performers. They want to make a public appearance to show gotham that they are still around. They begin shooting at the graysons, who all get killed except dick who just gets shot.
Bruce adopts him, and alfred becomes his care taker. Dick finds out bruce is batman and the rest is history.
Just an Idea.

I'd rather have Rupert Thorne as sort of the corrupt new District Attorney and also shadow boss of a Gotham Gang, he hires the Riddler to try and find out who the Batman is so that both he can look good to the public for arresting the Batman and have his boys kill Batman whilst in custody and then blame it on Gordon and the police. This is kinda like Riddler's role in Long Halloween and also Hugo Strange's role during one of Thorne's appearances. Meanwhile, have Black Mask going after Thorne's empire whilst also targeting Bruce Wayne's industries out of revenge but when finding out about Thorne's plan he wants in and hires Riddler himself to find out Batman's identity for him making a sort of auction for Batman's mask between Gotham gangs.

I'd then have the Riddler be like the guy from BTAS ep The Cape and Cowl conspiracy, who would leave death traps to force Batman to give up his identity.

I'd rather have the Riddler work with the head of the police division put in charge of apprehending Batman. Maybe Bullock. That way, the relationship between the Riddler and this other officer can be analogous to the relationship Batman and Gordon once had.

Hmm? i just thought of something... What if The Riddler wasnt intentionally a villian but someone who thought he was doing some good...

He'res an idea...

since The Joker brought chaos to Gotham... a new sense of hope comes in the form of the Sionis.Corporation - it is considered a rivial to Wayne.Enterprises however Sionis rises to fame by its charitable donations after what happend with the Joker in "The Dark Knight" - However the Sionis.Corporation isnt as good as people think they are, infact what lies beneath the surface is an extensive Mob connections who was serverly crippled by The Joker's actions that they have colaborated the rest of there money into this new corporation. But non of this matters as crime is at an all time low and Batman is on the run. Bruce naturally gives up his mantel to take a more active interest in his company. Everything seems fine... to Bruces knowledge the Sionis.Corporation is a genuine company looking for some recognition and he only considered them an equel not a rivial. To of which makes him ponder weather Wayne.Enterprises should do more for gotham... This is where we bring in Edward Nashton and Employee of Sionis.Corporation. He was under the understanding that his department in research for being used to help gotham city with technology advances and better equipement for things like hospitals and laboratories... He was wrong, unbeknown to him Edwards work was being sold on the black market, too which Edward learns that because of his research evil things have happend... like mobs breaking into banks and being undetected...etc along those lines... With an absense of The Batman, Edward decides he can outsmart his company by taking them, member by member. So what we get is Edward trying to destroy the public image of Sionis.Corporation and its board members... This is where Roman comes in now he is essientially not going to play the role of The Black Mask... but only that of a business man like Bruce but has ties with the mob too which we have already seen previous two films before. The idea is simply that The Riddler, is trying to cause maximum choas by trying to bring down what looks like a good company but is really a mob laundering service. See The Riddlers take down of each board member would have adverse effects which then makes the threat more public over gotham... Like one board member is driven to suicide, another is caught in a bank robbery but he shoots his way out... eventually The Riddler manages to hack into every computer and starts his viral campaign against the Sionis.Corporation... So where does bruce come in, Bruce has decided to give up the bat suit so instead of going down this root and him believing sionis.corporation is just a target of an internet nerd Bruce strikes up a deal with Roman so that the Sionis and Wayne enterprises join forces, Bruce gets good publicity but Roman gets the better deal because he will use Waynes connections to further the underground mob connections... As The Riddlers threat gets larger and larger, it strikes to close to home when Edward hacks into Wayne Enterprises and learns that they used to make the batman accessories... although there is no information of the identity of batman... With this and the constant threat of more board members doing drastic measures to keep themselves from being named by the riddler... Bruce returns to becoming the Batman.

What you got to remember is that The Riddler believes he is doing good - but his little viral campaign has caused a domino effect and although he is only looking at the small picture, he is effecting the bigger picture which is gotham itself.

Just think about the ending, The Riddler is caught by The Batman and prisioned... but the Riddler reveals all his findings about the Sionis corporation and that Wayne Enterprises has been had.

So essentially it sets up Roman Sionis to be The Black Mask for the 4th movie if made...

So how does that sound?

It would be great to have a squad developed just to bring down batman, order of the new mayor(the previous one was relieved of duty, fired), they bring in a famous private investigator and genius to help capture batman.

The new Major Crimes Unit, has separate teams for every masked, including Batman, the new mob boss Batman, and all other criminals.

Personally I still want Bane, and would like to see black mask take over the mafia, it just makes since.

Since there will be no 4th movie with nolan, I believe everything will fall through, none of the actors will sign on again, including bale, who is the new star of the universe being offered any movie role he wants, making at least 3 movies a year.

You've written Batman out of a Batman movie.

I think the main reason alot of actors wont sign on is because they did such a good job with dark knight they set the bar way to high..

That's actually why they would sign on. TDK did so well in the box office, the next film is pretty much a guaranteed box office smash. Nolan's said he's a little unsure about making a third film, citing repetitiveness in the franchise, lack of a story, and simply the small number of threequels that are good. So what in earth would possess him to make a fourth when the fourth film has almost always been a disaster?

True^
I cannot recall any good 4th film.
i can recall a lot of good number twos,
a few number 3's as well.

Nolan does not want to ruin a masterpiece.

We can't ruin great things, the batman 3 curse may be true if nolan doesn't sign on, we can't have him sign on for 2 more, cause he won't do a 4th.
