If I were a mutant I'd be tempted to join Magneto just because of how badly humans treat mutants, but I'm very averse to violence so in the long run I'd just end up joining Professor X.

If I were a mutant I would sympathize with Magneto but I wouldn't join his cause. I would just want to live a normal life.

as a human in a world of mutants I'd probably sympathize with Xavier and would hope that mutants and humans could co-exist peacefully. I'd be against registration or sentinels.

This isn't really one of the options, but I'd probably join the 50 states initiative and get an awesome government benefits package and pension, in a job where I get paid to wear a shiny tight bodysuit and throw people through windows.

In all honesty I have to go with Senator Kelly. If mutants really existed and I was not one (thus, I cannot efficiently protect myself) I would prefer to know who is mutant and who is not just to keep myself as safe as possible.

I'd pick X-Men and Kelly, whether I was human or mutant. I believe mutants can live peacefully with humans and be registered; I don't think they're mutually exclusive. If I have to have a FOID card to get a gun, a mutant (who have powers much more lethal than guns) should be registered too. Of course, if such registration were to be used to round mutants up and send them to camps, then those responsible would have to face my wrath. But the registration just seems like common sense. Several people have already said "I'd steal from people and be rich!" and other stuff like that, which just proves why it's necessary to register them.

I don't recall if originally Magneto was a Holocaust survivor. They clearly sued that extreme trauma to good effect to justify his motivations and actions.

Honestly I would have to side with Kelly. While I think I would be with Xavier on the whole acceptance thing if you have someone that has this kind of power you need the government to have some sort of check and balance with it. And having their own super team won't cut it with collateral damage. Really the only major concern I see is if the government can be trusted with that information. It wasn't that long ago the US census was used to round up all the Japanese-Americans during WWII. I would think it would be used more as a suspect list if some super powered involved crime happens. I think the argument he makes in the movie is very convincing a gun is nothing compared to what the X-men have, normal people need some sort of protection from possible harm.
