But on another note. The only issue I had with the movie was how everything fell into place perfectly for the Joker. Almost too powerful for a villain like him. One bomb set up after another, the buildings, hospitals, ferries, cars, and so forth.
It would've been nice if they showed just once how many people the Joker had working for him.

They implied that he had a good number of the escaped Arkham inmates working for him. Then there's also the mob goons he most likely had at his disposal after they hired him. He definitely had some crooked cops on his side due to Maroni's influence.

okay, so we know that Ledger's top two performances of all time were the Joker and Ennis Del Mar. But what are your favorite Heath Ledger movies, excluding Dark Knight and Brokeback mountain?

Here's mine.
1. I'm Not There
2. The Patriot
3. A Knight's Tale
4. Monster's Ball
5. Brother's Grimm

And if this did include the two best performances, Joker would be number 1, del mar would be 2nd.
 
I really like "The Brothers Grimm", I know I'm supposed to hate it, but I just love it. I really enjoyed Ledger's performance in it.

I kept thinking while I was watching it "Wow Heath Ledger is really good" unfortunately the movie was so bad that I couldn't quite get past that.
 
Monsters Ball, a really striking performance for such a short period of screen time.
 
I know to take things on IMDb with a grain of salt, but this sounds about right on the Trivia Page--

"Christian Bale stated in an interview that during the interrogation scene, Heath Ledger wanted him to beat him as hard as he could to get the real feeling of what was required from the scene."

Wow. Ledger was the man. Amazing...

And some people think that it would be easy to recast. Where are you going to get that kind of commitment?

I knew of Ledger before that movie but never put much stock on him; I wrongly made the assumption due to 'A Knight's Tale' and '10 Things I Hate About You' that Heath was just another one of those 'teenbeat' actors, much like Freddy Prinze Junior etc.

When I saw him in 'The Brother Grimm', I realised how wrong I had been.

His voice, his mannerisms; everything.

He was great in that. Quirky, enthralling and full of energy.

I know!! Every time I've seen the interrogation scene, I get so worked up till I'm practically on the edge of my seat, it's like he really is getting his ass kicked! The tension is amazing. Brilliant acting from both Heath and Christian :)
 
What IS it about Brothers Grimm that makes it so unwatchable? I couldn't put my finger on it. It's a strange movie isn't it. Two great actors and Monicca Belluci, it should have been great

The only word to describe "The Brothers Grimm" is mediocre.

But anyway, that's cool (if not a bit concerning) that Ledger wanted Bale to beat the crap out of him. I remember Christian Bale said that Ledger had a bunch of bruises after that scene but they were both loving every minute of it. That scene must have been a blast to film.
 
It is a strange one, isnt it?

Damon is equally as interesting in that movie as Ledger. Yet, somewhere in the movie it loses it's ability to hold onto the audience.
