This one appeals to a little bit older of an audience Christopher Nolan said at the screening if the film that he had to ask Heath Ledger to tone it down a bit otherwise I was going to get an R rating that’s how menacing and violent he is.

why he tone it down? why?

Damn i thought he let him do whatever he wanted to do with the Joker.

That is intresting :yay:
I would love to know what he was doing to have Nolan say that.

eh , the kids are probably going to get scared either way , then everyone will complain about how it's " too dark " and then it'll be batman returns all over again , so what's the point ?

Soccer moms ruin all the fun

The only reason why soccer moms are upset by the dark tone of BB and TDK, is that they grew up with the Batman tvseries, where Batman was fun and had Shark repellent spray on him at all times.

It's going to be great but creepy to see Heath as the Joker on July 18th. It will be like watching a ghost.

Well, WB wanted this to receive a PG-13 rating. Nolan was simply adhering to their wishes. I'm sure it didn't affect the film in the least bit.

That is by far the BEST TDK story Ive heard so far, BAR NONE. I love the fact that Heath played him so intensely and so evil that hedve gotten an R rating on his performance alone. Talk about pouring yer heart and soul into a character. When I first heard that Heath was playing the Joker, I had my doubts, now I love the fact that Heath made me look like a fool for doubting him. This is by far (from what Ive seen so far and from what Ive heard about the lengths he took to prepare for the role) the most intensely studied and intense acting role Ive ever seen.

I love the fact that when I see Heath as the Joker I f***ing FORGET THAT ITS HIM. I still cant believe it. If that man plays the Joker HALF as good as the trailers have shown so far, then TDK will mark the first time Ive ever gotten up during the credits of the movie and applauded OUT OF RESPECT.

That's just what I said a few days ago.

What's a soccer mom?

Oh, come on. There's some pretty scary scenes in both of those movies if you're a small child.

^^^ I was reading rolling stone magazine the other day and they had a summer movie preview in it..........It had an oscar watch section for the summer movies and travers had heath ledger as best supporting actor for his oscar watch, nothing else, from what he said, "what I've heard and seen about heath's performance he has the best chance of getting an oscar nod from this summer's movies, and it looks fitting."

I think it's too soon to tell whether Heath Ledger will be nominated for an Oscar. I personally don't think it will happen, judging from the Academy's previous track record of ignoring big-budget blockbusters in the top six categories. But we won't really know until awards season hits and precursor nominations (National Board of Review, Golden Globes, etc.) are announced.

yeah i understand that, I was just mentioning it for the sake of mentioning it.

If Heath posthumously wins an oscar for TDK, it will open a LOT of doors not only for big budget summer blockbuster, but for Comic book movies as well. Plus he willfinally get that oscar for his acting skills that he so rihly deserved. (I COULD NOT believe he got F***ED on his nomination for "Brokeback"... he deserved that more than ANYONE ELSE nominated for it)

Nah, Philip Seymour Hoffman deserved that Oscar hands down, in my opinion. Ledger was a close second, but Hoffman hit it out of the ballpark with his performance.

Yeah, Philip deserved that one for sure, even though Heath performed quite well himself.

Capote bored me to tears. I'm not old enough to remember the author he was acting, but even if he did an amazing "impersonation" there wasn't that much acting... just a silly voice and quirky manerisms. Heath on the other hand had the doubly difficult role of feigning intense passionate love for another man, and on top of that repressing it utterly through the characters history and personal beliefs.... and THEN break through it against his own will, and THEN break down completely in suffering
when his lover was brutally killed.

I think that's far more difficult than what PSH did in Capote. Heath was ROBBED.
