Independence Day 2?

Independence Day and Alien have the best alien designs of any film ever made. I was obsessed with the ID4 toys growing up. I played the **** out of the giant Commander figure.

For sure. That's what we need more of in this film too, the aliens themselves. Wanna see more of them.

I wasn't really a fan of what the aliens themselves looked like, but the exoskeletons were badass.

Yeah, I want to see the ground invasion this time. The whole army of exosuited aliens that Smith and Goldblum flew over in the mother ship.

That's what I meant more so, them in those exoskeleton suits. Ground invasion would be sweeeeet.

I feel the suits would be modified. Do those suits really seem mobile for ground combat? They seemed organic. Which was freakin awesome. Gross, but awesome

They definitely seemed organic yeah. We could see that in the autopsy scene. But yeah they'd probably update the look of them for the new film. But I would definitely love to see more of them. Now I really want to re-watch ID4 its been a while.

^ You're right, they'd probably update the designs for the sake of it. But, in movie time, it's been twenty years on Earth... how long for the aliens again? Didn't they say like two weeks? Why would they change their designs that much in two week? I guess they could just say/imply that it's a different branch of the aliens or something.

Well, let's assume the aliens have different branches of service, like human militaries do (army, navy, marines, air force, etc.). And let's say they underestimated Earth significantly, and only sent one of their branches, let's say their equivalent of the air force, to blow the **** of the planet first before others came in.

Now they won't underestimate us, and may send in different "branches" of their military. And who knows, those branches might be made up of different biological subspecies of their race. And we're in for a shock when we meet their equivalent of the SAS.

I like the sound of that

Exactly, yup.

I remember one of the ID4 alien figure toys had a upper body that was held shut by a spring and you squeezed to levers together on the back to make it open up and they had a translucent rubbery alien on the inside?

^ That sounds awesome.

I had one of those little alien (exosuit) heads that opened up and there was a little New York inside with a City Destroyer and F-18. You could launch a little ball out of the Destroyer and the buildings would break into blocks. A computer game came with it, where you were an alien fighter trying to destroy the city and fight off waves of human jets.

Meeeeemorieeesss...

Yep, and they came in different colors and styles too.

Just Googling "ID4 action figures" throws me right back into the '90s.

I think it's the ultimate testament to humanity's achievements that there are multiple iterations of Jeff Goldblum action figures floating around the world right now.

I think i also have a David Duchovney in the same toy box as Jeff Goldblum, this is what Toy Story 4 needs to be about

I remember I had the Will Smith action figure and it looked nothing like him.

Now that Disney owns Marvel and Star Wars, I wonder what it would take for RDJ, Harrison Ford, etc. to do cameo voiceovers as their own action figures.

I still have my soundtrack by David Arnold on CD I hope they bring him back his score was awesome, the end theme still rocks 19 years later.

:awesome:

Anyone remember these? They came with the toys?
