Interstellar - Part 3

Everyone is saying that they find this teaser hopeful but I don't. Seems far more melancholy and ominous to me. There's some huge juxtaposition going on. There's allusions that the film will deal with issues of failing agriculture due to the dust bowl and farmer grabbing dirt stock footage then we get some footage from the film with the fire burning a portion of the crops with someone still seemingly working on the field.

But all of this is happening behind MM speech which can be construed as inspirational. They help propagate that by then showing all our aerial/space faring accomplishments and the excitement that exploration and success brings to us. Only for it to quickly shift back to the fact that we've been slowing down dramatically when it comes to manned missions of space exploration.

Then back to film footage of MM tearing up as he drives away from this rural area only to end the trailer with those two people holding hands as this lonely ship goes out into space to seemingly find a solution I would assume to remedy our failing ability to grow anything.

The goal is positive and inspirational but the circumstances seem to be dire.

Well after hearing descriptions and the leaked instagram clip I was initially worried but I thought that teaser was lovely. It easily brought across that the film was about exploration and did it in a compelling way.

it's pretty well done. Subtle.

I really enjoyed this teaser, I loved the mood and vibe it gave off, I really felt some good emotion while watching it. I'm glad to see Nolan doing something like this.

Yeah, very nice, subtle teaser. Take that whoever I was arguing with in this thread a few weeks ago who said a teaser needs to be loaded with new footage! :oldrazz:

This is how you do it. A good teaser should leave you pondering about all the stuff you aren't seeing.

I certainly wasn't expecting anything like that... but I have to say, it looks really exciting. And certainly different territory for Nolan.

The trailer is giving off a pretty ominous tone to me. Love it!

I'm a straight male, but dat voice...

Has McConaughey done any audio books?

Yeah seriously hearing McConaughey's voice in that trailer, pretty much made it all that much more awesome for me.

I love the way they unveiled the title card... switch up it, nice.

"Horizontal is done, I'm going vertical." -C. Nolan

McConaughey's always been solid, assuming you've followed his career over the years. That won't stop the inevitable praise for Nolan for inventing him though.

^Pretty much.

In this thread when he got cast there's a few pages where I was defending him because people were purely judging him on his romcoms like The Wedding Planner and whatnot.

Completely forgetting (or not knowing) of films like Amistad and Contact.

One thing my friend and I were talking yesterday, is how sadly this trailer is so true. And especially is sad to me because I am a huge proponent of space exploration. And for years have been upset that for the past few decades we've just stopped trying to go beyond.

Hans music really works with this.

Contact is one of my favorite films that I always felt was under appreciated. Sagan is still one of my heroes.

I'm also looking forward to him and Woody in the HBO series 'True Detective'.

From what I've seen so far, it looks very good.

Yeah that was a nice teaser trailer didn't reveal much which it's not supposed to. The voice over of McConaughey was nicely done. Liked the music to it as well.

The teaser espouses a philosophy I believe in quite deeply.

The trailer was a little to subtle for me. What the movie about

He was also excellent in A Time to Kill, imo too.

Yeah, but he won't truly do his best work until Nolan brings it out of him.

:o

He was good in the late 90's, then he just took a lot of meh roles. But as of this last year, I'm won over on him. Seeing Mud and Dallas Buyers Club, really shows he is a superb actor. He looks great in The Wolf of Wall Street as well.
