Interstellar - Part 5

Staring to feel more and more like we have a serious BP contender on our hands.

It would be gosh darn hilarious if Interstellar gets nominated for every category but Nolan gets snubbed, again.

The nominations would be nice but the win would be far from guaranteed .
But, that would be true for any film or director for that matter .
Oscars are tough to win .

People have seen INTERSTELLAR now, and I hear such fascinating things...

It's going to be a long 6 weeks.

It is Nolan. I doubt it. But that won't make the film any less awesome.

Of course not. I'd be pretty shocked if it won any of the major categories, but I think nominations are a real possibility. It'll be in the conversation is what I'm saying.

Oscars are about socializing with the elite anyways. It's not a mystery why the fat oaf Harvey Weinstein's uninspired tripe get nominated year after every tedious year. He knows how to kiss up to whom the most tender way. Nolan's a pretty smooth talker. If he wanted to, he can get an oscar nom too. But I think he has too much character to care about that. He is more content with the recognition of his fellow directors and their guild (three time nominee).

The only award that matters is the award from the fan base.

That's a lie. :csad:

I kind of want to see some negative reactions, just so my heart rate can go down a bit. :p

I like the option about the sound.

It's not a novel concept. I wouldn't be surprised if Nolan took a few cues from Gravity sound mix-wise. The only sounds you hear are from inside the astronauts' suits because there's air to carry the sound waves while they're in orbit.

I wonder if Nolan took it a step further and doesn't have any score act as substitute for the sound in some scenes.

It sounds like there definitely are moments of complete silence.

And funnily enough, Nolan mentions in the article that during a dinner after the Oscars he let Alfonso Cauron know that he purposefully wasn't going to see Gravity while he was working on Interstellar and Cuaron completely got it. Great minds think alike, heh.

If any film could get Nolan Best Picture or Best Direction it is likely this one. The human story seems pretty serious and weepy (Oscar candy) and the early buzz is exceptional. This film may just win the Academy over.

I'll have to see it before I believe it. After how they treated TDK and Inception, I don't trust them.

is this the store where Christopher Melon buys his blue jackets?

Some very good directors (like FF Coppola, John Ford, Spielberg, etc.) have actually won a Best Director Oscar.

But even more have been “snubbed.” Examples: Stanley Kubrick, Orson Welles, Alfred Hitchcock, David Lynch, Robert Altman, Howard Hawks, Charlie Chaplin, Sam Peckinpah. And many more if you include foreign directors (Bergman, Fellini, Godard, Kurosawa). :word:
