Nolan's changes to the original script included making it bigger, and more epic. He wanted spectacle: dust storms and tidal waves, man pitted against the might of the universe. But he also wanted to incorporate a more nuanced depiction of human nature, revealing it at both its worst and its best.
Anne Hathaway's character, a scientist named Brand, will reveal a secret halfway through the film. A secret that will "change the course of the story".
There was an exhibitor screening today in NY, IMAX 70mm. Reactions I received:
"The film's narrative relies so firmly on hard science, that it might prove perplexing to some audiences, particularly with regard to black holes."
It's "amazing" and has "mind blowing visuals" and Zimmer's church organ-based score is very different for him.
Non-plot spoilers about the thematic idea of the ending:
It's a visual metaphor like 2001.
First public reaction. From The Film Stage editor.

Lol. Nice.![]()
This is going to be the Blu Ray cover for this movie.![]()
I like that he doesn't underestimate audiences and gives them the benefit of the doubt and even if they're confused they'll enjoy the action beats.
Shhhh... you'll summon a certain poster who will be sure to remind us all that Nolan believes his audiences are stupid and spoonfeeds them everything even though he doesn't really need to anyway because all his ideas are profoundly stupid and if we were all truly intelligent, we'd only watch Michael Haneke films.
I'd watch anything Nolan churns out, even his lesser movies, over the 100th Fast and Furious or Transformers movie.

@joeutichi The buzz I've heard from early screenings has been wildly positive.

@robbiereviews @joeutichi I've spoken to 1 journo, 2 PRs and 2 directors who have seen it - all raved. "Nolan's best" seems to be consensus

@jamie_graham9 @joeutichi Yep. His best film, multiple times, from trustworthy sorts.

In which, pointlessly and four months before anyone cares, I predict Interstellar as a Best Picture Oscar-winner
