*At the first screening*

"Starting tonight, people will cry. I'm an Anne (Fan) of my word."

Whether you're a Nolan fan or not, you should at least be able to admire the meticulousness he puts into his films.

Yeah, Nolan isnt nearly as OCD about his takes, but I consider Nolan the closest thing to Kubrick that modern film has. Im not even a fan of all of Nolan's films, and neither am I a fan of all of Kubrick's films, but I am a huge fan of both men and their methods. As artists I find them both to be utterly fascinating and something unique.

I only just found out today my screening will be a 15/70mm IMAX screening.

Colour me beyond hyped right now.

They don't have much in common. Nolan is more in the Hitchcock school than Kubrick school, if there is such a thing in either case.

I think Nolan has a cerebral sensibility that's somewhat similar to Kubrick's, albeit not as extreme.

I actually find Fincher's method to be more Kubrick than Nolan.

Yeah, I see more Hitchcock in Nolan than I do any kind of Kubrick influences.

The only similarities between the two that I can see, is they both have extremely crazy fans.

Yeah Fincher is closer to Kubrick than Nolan. Nolan is nothing like Kubrick. I feel some people just compare the two because Nolan's stated Kubrick was a huge influence for him, but aside from both men making cold films, they aren't anything alike. Wes Anderson is the closest visually to Kubrick, but that's it. No ones much like him. He was one of a kind.

Yeah. It's sort of a pointless topic. Nobody is like Kubrick. That's why he's held at such high regard.

That doesn't mean Nolan nor Fincher aren't maybe as good. To me Nolan is but it's all opinions. Just in terms of style no body is like Kubrick cause they all have their own.

That is one similarity. The other one is appreciation for 70mm film and strong cinematography. I think Kubrick would be just as strong of an advocate for IMAX if he were here today and had the opportunity to work with it like Nolan did.

Outside of those two things, they really don't have much in common.

Amirose Eisenbach of AMC Movie Talk says that she is seeing it tonight.
She lives in Los Angeles .

Im speaking about the quality of their work and their uniqueness not the similarity of their stories. Fincher is in the group too. But I personally rank Nolan higher. Fincher's film just dont tickle my grapefruit as much as Nolan's.

But I feel Nolan has a certain sterile quality in his work that is undeniably Kubrickian, but Nolan is easier for the masses to swallow than Kubrick ever tried or cared to be.

And I agree that Nolan's stories are more Hitchcock. Thats undeniable.

This.

I feel bad for Drew...

The Alfred/Sarah Borden fight scene in The Prestige, the end of The Prestige, the end of TDK, the realization-twist that Cobb-Mal lived a life time in limbo... all made me either get goosebumps or swell up or cry.

Can someone post at least one negative reaction? I can't allow my inner nerd to get the best of me with all this praise.

Yeah. I still don't understand why people have said Nolan films are emotionless. They're full of emotion!

Amirose Eisenbach @Amirosie · 6m 6 minutes ago I've never experienced anything remotely similar to #Interstellar. Truly a breathtaking, intense, deep & emotional journey. Still processing

Interstellar screening and Q&A w/ Matt, Anne, and Miss Chastain. Most beautiful film of all time. Hats off, Nolan.

David Daniel ‏@CNNLADavid 5m5 minutes ago
Interviewing @McConaughey @jes_chastain and Christopher Nolan tomorrow about #Interstellar. Must compose more coherent thoughts than "wow."

Yeah. I still don't understand why people have said Nolan films are emotionless. They're full of emotion!

He has a subtle and understated way of conveying it that I think is contrary to how a lot of other films do it, which probably means some folks prefer the more on the nose style. Personally I've never walked away from a Nolan film without having a lot of introspective emotional moments throughout the movie.
