Interstellar - Part 7

South Park ran with it but it still doesn't make any sense. It's not that hard to pay attention to what's happening. I'm not going to say someone is not smart if they don't get it. They probably just weren't paying attention.

Inception is not the same as Interstellar. If someone doesnt get Inception they likely werent paying attention. That film is really not hard to understand if your paying attention.

Interstellar however could honestly be hard for some to grasp and accept. This film isnt dealing with easy to swallow science. Not by a long shot. And if an audience member doesnt accept or cant understand the science on display that can honestly effect their enjoyment. So the argument can be made that "you didnt enjoy it because you didnt get it." But that is when a kind person should attempt to help them understand whatever it is they didnt understand. Not insult them.

That isnt to say that everyone who hates or dislikes the film didnt understand the science. Some people will get the science and still not like the film.

Matt Zoller Seitz, who's normally a critic of Nolan's, liked it. I think we're officially in The Prestige territory. Similar reception (so far).

That would be great. I absolutely love The Prestige. I don't know why I haven't watched it very many times. And I missed it in theatres. Regrettably.

Oh man, you missed a great experience. I remember being blown away by the cinematography during the Colorado scenes. I wish I could see it again on the big screen some time.

You're not kidding about that! I was in film school and about to direct my first project in lighting class, and i saw the prestige in theaters a few days before shooting. No words can describe my reaction or the confidence and excitement it gave me for my own work.

*runs out of thread, crying*

I remember buying it, watching it and sitting there wondering how the hell I missed it in theatres.
It was (thankfully?) right before I really started to appreciate the technical aspects of filmmaking.

Unfortunately I cant remember whether I watched it in theaters or not. That year of my life is all but gone from my memory.

The prestige is my favorite Nolan movie, if its close to that then its all good for me

I didn't see The Prestige in theaters. It's the only Nolan movie since Batman Begins I haven't seen in the theater.

I was looking at the most recent posted negative review on RT by Guzman. He gave it a 2.5 and the text of the review wasn't overwhelmingly negative. Looking at his review history, literally every other 2.5/4 review he's given has been considered Fresh. Could this be a mitake on RT' part?

I suppose it's possible they made a mistake because nobody is perfect but the reviewers decide if their review is positive or not, RT doesn't just guess.

Interesting that he chose Interstellar to be literally his first ever rotten 2.5/4 review then.

Nah that year was fine...I think. Lets just say Ive been through some **** and my memory has taken some hits.:funny:
Hmm... Interesting. :sus Fair enough.

Guzman has Sex Tape "rotten" at 2.5. That's the only other one I see. I really need to stop though. I should really just pay attention to what I think (of course) and the critics I usually agree with. Even then it's not a guarantee that I'll agree. Whatevs.

Fair enough, I must have missed that one. Given I highly doubt Interstellar will be even remotely comparable to Sex Tape in quality, I'll just take his Rotten score with a Saturn V rocket payload of salt.

Remember when everyone was comparing/contrasting The Prestige and The Illusionist when they came out the same year? It's funny how much The Illusionist has been completely forgotten due to how bland and crappy it is. I knew it eight years ago.
