Sweet lord Anne

I like Anne's make up and hair but that dress is not good.

Yeah there's too much going on and it's not flattering to her waist. Her best so far is the one at the London premiere. Not a fan of Chastain's gown either (outdated). Both have great makeup and look stunning though.

:hrt: especially to the first two.

One last thing I'll add before I tuck myself into bed like a baby: if you DON'T like Nolan's films, this is not the movie to change that. It's a very Nolan style movie. However, if you usually buy what Nolan is selling, this will be right up your alley. It's also his most mature film to date. McConaughey is fantastic, and he and Hathaway have a great rapport with each other.
What does that mean, his most mature Film?
Compared to what?

Quote from McConaughey about Nolan:

"He won't go reshoot anything. Even if he found out something was wrong I don't think he'd reshoot it."

It does kind of look like an alien fungus is growing up the one side.
:funny: It really does.

The dress is definitely not flattering Anne's figure. Chastain's dress is surprisingly boring for her.

I used to like Anne with long hair but that new haircut makes her look so much better... She looks powerful, hot and adorable.

And put these two toguether and I'm like

Quentin Tarantino about Nolan:
No green screens were used during Interstellar, the majority of which was shot with real locations, miniatures, or sets using massive projectors. “It’s actually old film-making craft,” says Quentin Tarantino, one of the directors Nolan called when he heard that Kodak, the last remaining manufacturer of celluloid film, was about to go under. “He’s calling up directors who don’t give a ****, and dealing with their apathy, and trying to explain to them how important it is. I would want to punch them in the ****ing face. But being British, he actually rises above all of that and tries to be diplomatic about it. I think it goes very well to the respect that they hold him in. It’s not just a dollars and cents thing. Christopher Nolan would be just as good of a filmmaker as he is, just as a potent filmmaker as he is if he was making movies in 1975. Or, if he was making movies in 1965. I’d like to see Chris Nolan’s version of The Battle of Bulge. That would be ****ing awesome.”

At the same time, alongside this dedication to film craft lies the other strand of Nolan’s personality: the sceptic, pulling the rug from under the audience’s feet with carefully planted secrets and second-act twists that allow his movies to build, almost with the inevitability of logical arguments, and sustain their two-to-three hour running times. Online, where deconstruction of Nolan’s films approaches the density of a collapsed star, argument still rages as to the significance of the endings of Memento and Inception. “Part of the appeal of Memento is he’s challenging you in a game to poke holes in the mystery, and the scenario, and the storytelling,” said Tarantino. “As opposed to something like The Sixth Sense or Fight Club where you watch it, and then you want to see it a second time to poke holes in it. He’s actually challenging you to do that. If you find a hole in it that’s almost as much fun as not finding a hole.”

That explains how he comes in under budget. As far as I know, budgets always have some reshoots figured in just in case.

He should have reshot that Talia death tho cause the take he used was ****. Plain and simple, and Nolan knew it. Kinda pisses me off the man went with that take knowing itd pull people out of the scene.

Another GREAT write-up. Btw, this one totally dispels the myth that Tarantino doesn't like Nolan.

I'm seeing the movie in 12 hours. So excited.

Schmoes know don't really know anything. :o

I dont like them for their knowledge. Their entertaining to watch and have a similar taste to me. They may not know the stuff that professional critics that has studied filmmaking do but they know enough.

I dont just follow them I do have more knowledgeable critics that I look at but with people like Schmoes I find I agree with them far more of the time than others.

Wonder what RedLetterMedia will think.

Used to love them but it really seemed they really just started to trash everything IMO. Stopped watching them a few months ago.

They surprisingly loved TDKR though so who knows.

They only thrashed the horrid films like ASM2, Bayformers, and Baymnt. Everything else they have liked or loved.

Wait, they endoresd Rises? I am more sceptical now.

I think they were also lukewarm at best to the first two movies, if I recall.

You Rises haters need to learn to accept that there are some of us with reasonable taste who loved that movie. :o :oldrazz:

The Dark Knight Rises has too much going for it for me to hate. Good performances and at least it was trying to say something unlike the other big 2012 comicbook movie. I have to give it credit for those things.

IIRC and not that he's the best source but I remember Marion's baby daddy ranting that she volunteered to do more takes or something like that and Nolan still chose that. :funny:

In other news, Harry Knowles seems to have hated the movie. For some reason this makes me giddy with anticipation.

They also completely trashed MoS and ST:ID, I dont even love MoS and I didnt like Into Darkness but they were slamming even with the typical "every who does like it is stupid". Obviously I know it is slightly an act but it is also their opinions. But just in general I felt they were just being more cynical than being analytical like they used to be. Their Jack and Jill review was awesome but it seemed to just descend into this movie is **** and just taking the **** rather than going into it.

Just googled Harry Knowles and the initial search results already inform me nothing that entity says ever needs to be taken seriously.

I'm not even certain I'm going to like this movie, but the more I hear about how "depressing" some of the GA and critics describe it as the more I'm sure this movie will be great.
