Is it just me or is the tide of opinion turning on this movie?

But people fail to understand...Hannah Montana is a COMPLETELY different genre and shouldn't affect Dragonball: Evolution much. I mean what typical 12-14 year old girl will contemplate seeing Dragonball? Honestly I would be worried if it was released in May.

Well to be honest, as much of a DB and DBZ fan as I am, I dont think I would go to the movie theater just to watch a CGI Dragonball movie. I would just stay home and watch my remastered version sets. Now a live action movie, thats different and interesting.

Something like Dragonball just doesn't translate well on live action. With the way it's stylized it would just look silly in live action.

Take Goku for example and the hair he has. With CGI you can have him look the same and have him look the way he should. With live action you're either going to have some guy look really rediculous in order to make his look, look properly or have some guy look like a jackass.

But the demographic that would typically watch a movie that Dragonball is going for has a lot of other movies to see as well like Fast and Furious and Watchmen.

And I imagine that there are Dragonball fans who have actually managed to breed and have 12 year old girl children who like Hannah Montana. Just what movie do you think they're going to go see?

And bad word of mouth can really end up hurting a film like this.

I agree. Although I didn't realize Fast and the Furious was coming out and April. Also, I highly doubt Watchmen will affect DB:E after a month of being out. And obviously the Dragonball fans who dare to breed Hannah Montana fans will probably try to see DB:E. People do see more than one movie in a month.

I honestly could see it making 300 million worldwide just from the buzz it has. People will see it because of the little information known.

I seriously hope not. :wow:
I wish I was...

How much do you think this movie will make?

I say over $800 million worldwide.

I think everyone knows the plot pretty much...at least if you go online that is.
Well also I mean besides the basic "Goku is an alien looking for dragonballs," most people have no clue what's going to happen. Only people who went to dbthemove.com forums, when the high school part of the script was revealed, know about the first 10 minutes of the movie.

Well that's with most movies...I mean I didn't know the plot of transformers before going in. The vast majority of movie-goers don't go to online forums to see the plot so I really don't get your argument.

After reading through the entire thread, I noticed on the last couple of pages that he said he's changed his mind and thinks it will make $300 to $400 million. I still don't think it will even come close to that number.
It could happen.

I'm not saying it's a possibility, but it's just not looking good at the moment. If it's going to reach that number, they need to promote the hell out of this movie real soon.

He's talking about the old expo trailer, not the current one.

Though, I think opinion on this movie is starting to shift towards a positive note. I think that despite hatred and negativity of the movie, people will STILL see it if not out of curiosity then out of just plain liking the original source. Besides, if people are informed that this is BEFORE DBZ and not exactly DBZ just yet, then I think they'll look more into it with an open mind.

of course it could make 300 milions worldwide. but after FOX edits the movie? after they resshoot stuff and cut down the movie? pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

the editing in bigbudget FOX movies is very bad.

Thats why I like the changes that were made in order for it to look good in live action. I know if they translated everything EXACTLY from the anime to live action, it would look BAD.

This is what most haters dont understand, they want an exact copy of the anime in this movie and thats impossible, it would look ridiculous.

It wouldn't look ridiculous if it was treated with respect, which obviously isn't the case here.
