Raybia, it's not taboo to discuss race, but a thread cannot be NONSENSICAL as a premise, for said event "discussion" to occur on it. Your thread did not meet the requirements of making any sense.

It's only because people get so heated in them. If everyone would just shut up and understand that people can have different religions and that skin color really shouldn't matter, then things would be completely different. But people are ignorant and get mad when someone is or believes something different than them, so we can't talk about stuff.

If everyone would just shut up and understand that people can have different religions and that skin color really shouldn't matter, then things would be completely different. But people are ignorant and get mad when someone is or believes something different than them, so we can't talk about stuff.

I guess race is more of a tangible issue than that of religion and politics. You don't choose the race or culture you are born into like you can choose other things. Michael Jackson of course being the only exception.

I wish we lived in a world where everyone got along. The only thing that separates the different races is skin color and history. And yeah, the history is bad. For some more than others, but we're all human and nobody should hate someone simply because they are a different skin color or come from another country or because they don't speak English. It really pisses me off that people are like that.

Almost everyone has some latent racist beliefs; if you disagree with that, then you're in denial. Usually just having a stray racist thought or two doesn't really matter, becuse most people dismiss and do not act on them.

But if you're a full-fledged RACIST, like Eagle talked about, that's most likely going to be a problem, because if you are actually a racist person, you are going to act on your racist beliefs and that's when you run into trouble.

The issue i want to talk about are ignorant PEOPLE that blindly represent their group.

eg. Women wanting to vote for Hilary just because she's a woman. Black people wanting to vote for Obama just because he's black. White people voting for a white man just because they're racist and sexist.

actually I think it's no one elses business if someones racist. As long as decisions aren't influenced, and as long as it's not shown publicly and hurts someone else.

Oh, and to add something to this thread, other than "Hi Chad". Talking about issues of race is a tricky thing, because there are always people, on both sides of the fence, that catch feelings. Also, most possible discussions have been so beat to death, that generally nothing useful comes of it.

What about ideology, that's almost a pseudo religion. What, people can't comment on politics because some neo con will get offended?

It's the same on the reverse too. Most of those debates spawn simply because Christians can't comprehend atheism. The atheists, in turn, tell them why they don't believe it. Some people cross lines on both sides and try to shove their beliefs down other people's throats. Some people are just too touchy and just can't leave each to his own beliefs.
