Nah, not trying to tell them not to believe, just looking for them to back up why they follow one part of the bible, and not others.

You seem to be ignoring the hoards of Christians who attempt to convert every non-Christian they meet. Both sides are at fault, don't make it about one or the other. You're acting just as ignorantly as they do.

It's the same on the reverse too. Most of those debates spawn simply because Christians can't comprehend atheism. The atheists, in turn, tell them why they don't believe it. Some people cross lines on both sides and try to shove their beliefs down other people's throats. Some people are just too touchy and just can't leave each to his own beliefs.

Yeah, but as far as I know there isn't an athiest thread floating around. It just seems like some people want to stir the pot and try to make everyone believe what they believe. Sometimes I think they're just trying to justify their own disbelief. To argue with someone over their religion just seems childish, to me.

All it comes down to is if you're easily offended or not. If you really were truly secure in your racial identity/religion/sexuality/etc. then nothing anyone says should get to you because it's all just words. Words don't hurt unless you let them, and unfortunately most people do let them hurt.

Raybia, it's not taboo to discuss race, but a thread cannot be NONSENSICAL as a premise, for said event "discussion" to occur on it. Your thread did not meet the requirements of making any sense.
Just let it go; it's water under the bridge. Start a better thread, and we'll all come and sit down and have us a good discussion.

What HV said...the thread did not make sense initially. It wasn't until the thread was closed and then reopened that Raybia explained the reason why he was asking that particular question. By then the thread had developed into a WTH thing that nobody really wanted to take real effort to try and save...not even Raybia. It seemed like you (Raybia) just took offense to everyone slamming your thread.

That being said, race is discussed here all the time and sometimes people's true colors come out...whether its pretty or not. Its my personal belief that everyone is, to some extent, ethnically ignorant. That leads to partial racism...because people do not understand another person's culture well enough so they proceed to make assumptions about the reason why someone does something...and base it on their race. Its human nature...discussing it won't change a thing in the whole picture. It may help one or two people understand each other...but unless that person is thrown completely into another person's culture...then how can they truly understand where the person is coming from?

Raybia you sent me a PM about this but never got back to me, from what i can see of the trashed thread you made, the reason it was closed was the mod felt that it wasn't going anywhere good, it was simply full of jokes or ppl pointing out that they basically felt the premise of this professor was ridiculous. It wasn't closed b/c it was a thread on race.

Also as this thread shows, most threads fail in community b/c most like to spend time trying out their comic routines instead of discussing the topic, over 50% of this thread has been deleted.

How about we talk about stuff anyway, and let the authorities here make sure things are kept under control like they're supposed?

Like that ever stopped anyone.

What tends to happen is that sometimes people express their bigotry and the line between enforcing board rules and enforcing morality gets blurry. And of course feelings are caught, etc. But when you put on the chef's hat, you better get your ass in the kitchen.
