My friend Carl, a HUGE Batman fan who follows casting news religiously(and supposedley has contacts, which i think he does), is adamant Williams has already been cast as Joker.

I said this was bull****, partly because he is so wrong for the role. But i know how knowledgeable he is and how sneaky he is when it comes to finding out all things on the movie front.

What's everyone's perspective on Williams?

I hate him as Joker, and it is impossible that he will get this role.

why impossible?

He is too old for this role. Besides, as I know, Gordon said at the end of BB, that Joker uses tricks like Batman.

Williams can do that.

I dont believe your friend. Sorry, but there are enough actors, who would be better than Williams.

Williams has said he has intrest in the role - however there is no indication that WB has interest in Williams. I doubt that Nolan will go for an old Joker with the start of this franchise.

The top choices are Paul Bettany and Lachy Hulme right now - with some reports that Hugo Weaving and Jude Law are other possible Joker candidates.

I think he'd be great as Joker, despite the age--he's proven in decades worth of film that he has Joker's more eccentric sense of humor, and in more recent films, like One Hour Photo and Insomnia that he can play an excellent, creepy bad guy.

Ugh...i wish these rumours wld die..

Williams would be tremendous. He was once attached to playing the character in the 89 film, before Nicholson. There's also no doubt that he'd exceed in nailing the comedic aspect of Joker. But honestly, would Nolan be interested in bringing him in, even with his interest in the role? So far we haven't heard anything since that last report about him, and with all this "Hulme and Bettany" talk, perhaps his chances aren't that high. Or maybe they are....

He would own the role in ways we'd remember for the rest of our lives, he's that good an actor, but it won't happen. They're going to get someone who is skinny and less skilled so the fans will be happy. It'll be nice to see a skinny joker for once, I must say. I wish they'd get a skinny guy an have hamill just dub his voice over him. That would literally make me orgasm.

I may be in the minority here but I would love him to play The Penguin. I think it would really work.

He's my top pick for the role.

Too old for the Joker. Maybe for DKR should a movie of it be made any time soon, but now, no.

hmm... he's a bit too hyper for Joker, he's more for Mad Hatter IMHO.

Well, Robin did work with Nolan in "Insomnia" so there's no reason why the two couldn't team up again, just like how Josh Lucas wants to team up with Christian Bale again on this.

I think though Robin is too old for the part, but he would've made a perfect Joker back in the day, but Nicholson owned the role because he was a mix of the 60's show and the comics.

This Hulme guy I am starting to like as the frontrunner. Bettany is an interesting pick, but I'm still not sold on him being Joker.

Like I've said before I still am rooting for Tim Roth and Sam Rockwell even if there's been no new news about them.

If Sam weren't able to play Joker I'd suggest him as The Riddler. Watch "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe" and tell me he wouldn't be a good Riddler. He's kooky and funny.

lol, batman and robin,..sorry about that.I think he would be o.k. for the joker,if he lost some weight. They could make him look younger with C.G.I.,and make-up.

Joker isnt manic, he's psychotic with a real sick sense of humour.

In the comics he has been both. There is more than one version of the character.

If Robin Williams lost some weight and some age he would be a great Joker - dont think either will happen though :(

X3-The Last Stand.

heh. Just throwing it out there as proof it's not impossible.
