Is anyone having trouble finding goldeneye on bluray? My walmart never has it, and my funds for the boxset aren't happening anytime soon :csad:

Damn, after the last few pages about the third movie theory I'm so glad I was gone for the weekend.

I don't agree that it's overrated. I've found in my recent viewings of DN, FRWL and TB that they all suffer with one main problem. Pacing. I feel that they all have a tendency to drag and pull me out of interest as to what's going on (FRWL is much better in it's pacing than DN and TB though). With Goldfinger, everything just seems to click and work perfectly.

I agree. With FRWL, it's better in terms of pacing because the whole movie is pretty slowly paced in comparison to most Bond movie. Both Dr. No and FRWL are slowly paced, but Dr. No tends to drag when you get to Dr. No's lair. With TB, those underwater scenes take forever. It nearly kills the momentum at times.

I hear director Terence Young complained about all those underwater scenes in Thunderball, too. They did drag the pace badly.

The reason it was shot like that because in the 60s those underwater scenes were groundbreaking and they wanted to show off the technology. The latter is the exact problem. A lot of it was for show and it kills the pacing, along with other editing issues that kills the sense of urgency for the movie, considering that SPECTRE was holding the world for ransom.

I wish we could get a Thunderball like plot again. Something that involves Bond having to stop a potential nuclear holocaust.

To Spider-Dude. Were the titles in the style of Casino Royale or were they the classic naked women silhouette style?

Just speculation on my part but If rumors are true that
the gunbarrell sequenze Is again at the end like QOS

I am guess Casino Royale like titles.

Not sure how i feel about the gunbarrel.

You can't put much stock in these scores. They dont grade on a curve. Each movie is evaluated individually on whether it accomplished what it set out to accomplish. Roger Ebert gave Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter 3 stars and he also gave Avengers three stars. Does that mean he views them on the same level? No. Read the review, and ignore that score. A number of stars wont tell you crap about a movie on its own if you don't know what the poerson who gave it those stars is actually thinking or how/why the came to that conclusion.
This isn't comparing Toy Story 3 to The Dark Knight Rises. This is the newest Bond film against the LAST Bond film.

I was just specutlating since the rumor Is
The gunbarrell sequenze occurs at end of film like QoS not begining of film like previos series

It could be BS by the way but that Is what rumors are saying.

If true the reason could be
after Judi Dench's m's reported death and Mallory reportly becoming M It could be signal as part of reported Loop with DR No sam Mendas once talked about that Danial Craig at end of Skyfall Is completly Bond that people know

The pace maybe slowed it down a bit, IMO, but I still think Thunderball is good.

I don't know what any of this has to do with the title sequence though?

He said the tiles were
morbid with Bond being sucked down whirlpools with grave stones around, playing up to Bond's 'death'.

If the rumor was true I was speculating that the titles would be more like Casino Royale than classic titles.

The
gunbarrel at the end isn't a rumour. Various people who saw the film commented on it.

It is good. It's in my top 10 for Bond movies at Number 7. I think it did a great job following up Goldfinger, but the pacing kills the movie at times.

I don't think it's really about 'becoming the Bond we all know and love' thing, if it really was in the first place. I think this is how it will be handled from now on, in the Craig era anyway. Probably to differentiate the reboot films from the 40 year series which ended with DAD. It's an icon that's still there, but no longer a fixture. There's 2 hours 25 minutes of film to chew on, and to me, one moment doesn't ruin everything at all. A clash of old and new.

I've read this is Silva's backstory.

He's an MI6 operative in the sector of cyber-warfare. He's in a mission in China when the Chinese government finds out who he is. M disavows him and he's captured and torture for months, until all of his teeth are pulled out. When he finally escapes, he wants revenge against M and targets the MI6, stealing the drive as part of his masterplan.

Anyone know if it's truth?

How many of you are planning on seeing skyfall in imax? Do you think it will be well worth it?
