Quantum of Solace is a great Bond film. It just isn't as good as Casino Royale or Skyfall.

What are you talking about? His emotions at the end when Tracy dies is what most people give him praise for other than his action scenes, in fact, it's widely regarded as one of the best scenes in the entire series.

I personally like it more then most. It is definitely better the majority of Bond films and suffers from classic overreaction by many who latch on to the general, misguided position. I love when I see people try to rank it below such classics as "A View to a Kill", "Diamonds Are Forever", and "Tomorrow Never Dies" to name but a few. When I hear it is the worst, well I do wonder how many of these people have sat through "Moonraker" or "Die Another Day".

By who? The scene itself is well done. His performance is not. Look at the way Daniel Craig plays the death of Vesper at the end of Casino Royale and then look at how much better this could have been. There's a reason he only played Bond once and it's not because he decided to leave. He was fired.
I think that was PR at the time. In the new documentary Everything or Nothing he admits they fired him.

I've seen them all many times. Tomorrow Never Dies is definitely better than Quantum of Solace, as well as those other films that you mentioned.
The others are the bottom of the barrel as far as Bond films go, but Quantum of Solace isn't that much better. At least we can see what is going on in those, even if what we are seeing isn't any good. Quantum of Solace is just a garbled mess with the worst action sequences of the entire series. It has other problems like a lame villain and Bond girl, and being rather redundant (it covers much of the same ground in Bond's development as Casino Royale just did), but the big issue is that it is just uncomfortable to watch. Guy Hamilton (DAF, TMWTGG), Lewis Gilbert (MR), and John Glen (AVTAK) at least bring something to the franchise and indeed have directed some of the best films of the franchise. Hamilton did the very best Bond film. Forster was just awful. He took what could have been a good Bond film on paper and made it a disaster. He should never be allowed anywhere near this franchise again. Easily the worst directing job of any Bond film, even if the film itself was better (barely) than the absolute worst.
I find it hard to compare DAD and QoS. The first 40-45 minutes of DAD blows anything from QoS out of the water, but everything after that is a joke. DAF is my vote for the worst. It just seems so half-assed, from the performances, to the writing (Tiffany Case changes from cagey master thief to bumbling bimbo and back within single scenes), to the special effects (the laser satellite attacks are the worst effects in the entire series). They didn't even bother making Blofeld bald. It is just so boring and uninspired whereas at least there was an effort in every other film, even if it didn't work.
*rant coming* Man With the Golden Gun will always be the worst to me because it pulls off the worst crime of all the Bond movies; being boring. At least with every other Bond movie, I have to admit that I was at least entertained by all the other Bond movies. The action is boring, the acting is boring (everyone except for Christopher Lee looked like they didn't even want to do this movie), and Scaramanga's villain plot was boring and incredibly lame. Not to mention, I hate that f**king midget butler, and I hate JW Pepper even more. After watching Live and Let Die (which I actually do like), I was actually saying that The Man With The Golden Gun movie couldn't get any worse and at least it didn't have JW Pepper in it, then he comes on and I was ready to throw stop the dvd and throw it out a window.
The Man With The Golden Gun could have been an interesting return for Bond in the spy thriller genre, but it squabbles it's opportunities hugely by forcing in Bond formula with combined with a dull story, terrible comedy, a completely forgettable Bond girl, and one of the stupidest ideas for a henchmen.

I have to say its very interesting how much QoS divides fans
I personally like DAF (and every Bond film for the most part) but agree with everything in your post. Especially the laser...the look was especially cringeworthy. I partially agree about Blofeld, but am more bothered the actor previously played a Bond Ally in You Only Live Twice.

), and that's that the story doesn't work in the movie series, because Blofeld and Bond have already met face to face in the YOLT. It would make no sense to send Bond in undercover to Blofeld's place.
