I was 'meh' on Daniel Craig's hair being so short, but in motion, he looks good with it. I also am in the camp who thinks that Daniel looks better in motion and isn't photogenic.

You know those GIFs you see of 60s Batman and Robin running away from stuff? Well, people can start using this one as well now:

In the whole debate of digital vs film, a movie like Skyfall can show that the transition won't be so bad after all.

I'm more against a higher frame rate, but that's for a different thread.*

* I also have a beef with digital projectors for AMC and Regal theaters, where the frame of rate doesn't look 24. Looks more like 30 sometimes.

Roger Deakins is of the view that digital has overtaken film. And who wants to argue with him?

Anyway that was a bad ass teaser. Bond is back baby!

Just saw the trailer a little whole ago. Still wished it was longer. But a great tease for the film. Wicked good action, stunning visuals. Mendas, and denkins looks to be making a great bond.

My only beef with digital is some directors and cinematographers don't know hot to shoot dark/night scenes properly. So sometimes, either it's too grainy, too dark, or too 'Video' looking.

But a movie like Drive, which was shot in digital, showed that night scenes can look beautiful if you do it right.

I have to agree with you. That "interrogation" scene really draws attention to Craig's hair, but in other scenes I don't pay attention to that. In the end, it's just a minor complain, and I have no problem with it as long he isn't bald.

Yea, it's all about understanding how to use it. I think most of the time the people are are so stringent to stick to film are just being traditionalists. Digital isn't inherently worse.

I mean just look at Deakins' credits. He's the best cinematographer out there, he knows what he's talking about when he says the Arri Alexa is the best camera.

I don't think that trailer is gonna get people excited for the new Bond film. I've been following the production since day one, so I already have, more or less, an idea of what the plot is. So, I know what I'm looking at. But I can imagine that most people who watch that trailer will say afterwards, "um... okay?"

It's a teaser, not a full trailer. It's usually not supposed to or obligated to give a hint of the plot.

After that trailer, the odds of a Cinematography Oscar for Deakins certainly went way down haha! It looks beautiful, and absolutely bada$$!

Yeah, but most teasers aren't this random. You know what you're looking at. But imagine someone with no knowledge whatsoever. They'd just be sitting there thinking, "this is a Bond movie, right?"

Plus, the Avengers has has shown that audiences have grown tired of dark and moody films. They want the fun, bombastic stuff again. So, they should have gone back to the conventional teasers where the action scenes and hot Bond girls are the selling point. Not... "oh, look. fancy roger deakins cinematography."

The general public isn't gonna care. Sony/MGM need to re-think the marketing campaign. This might excite fans but I highly doubt the general public's reaction will be more than, "meh."

Are you serious?

You couldn't be any more wrong. Some teasers do not have to reveal the plot. Also, with all the action, women, and Daniel Craig in the trailer, they'll see that this is a Bond movie. Plus, it's been said that have more humor. The teaser does a great job at showing the action, the exotic locations, and the women that Bond movies known for. It just also does a great job at showing the cinematography. Why is that a bad thing?

Just because one tone of a movie is successful does not mean all other tones cannot be successful. You and other people who think like that should get that in your head.

And I'm pretty sure the audience will care because its Bond. This will excite the general audience.

Avengers has shown nothing of the sort. Avengers worked because Avengers is supposed to be fun and bombastic.

A Bond film isn't supposed to be the same tone as Avengers. But you can bet your lifes savings that it'll be visually spectacular and have great action scenes.

I also love the taste of the score in this, the electronic sound that comes alive with the blue bakground in Shanghai was great!

This felt more like a Teaser for the fan boys. Which is cool & all. But Teasers are supposed to get everyone excited. I doubt a bunch of drums are going to accomplish that

It's a long awaited Bond film. The teaser is just letting everyone know it's coming. The Bond name hypes itself, especially after a hiatus.

Have you ever seen a Bond movie made before Casino Royale? Bond films used to be BIG, exciting, full of fantasy and adventure. Skyfall comes across as a Christopher Nolan wannabe. They went from Bourne wannabe to Nolan wannabe.

Should have done just a logo only teaser then. Not a half assed teaser
