Exactly. My favorite Bond movie remains to be From Russia With Love, and this is a movie that didn't even have Q (who was introduced in the following movie Goldfinger),

Actually, Desmond Llewellyn appeared as Q for the first time in FRWL. He just didn't have the classic playful banter with Bond.

And, as ChickenScratch mentioned in the previous page, Q technically appeared in Dr. No, too, albeit as Major Boothroyd.

Exactly! Hell, parts of inception was an homage to OHMSS. However, Nolan isn't the only director to borrow from Bond.

Funny thing is, Nolan has stated that he's amazed at how people thought he ripped off Bond in Inception. He stated that he's been doing it for most of his movies and he's been inserting subtle Bond nods all over the place. But the moment they see a snow chase in Inception, they think THAT's ripping off!

Hell, in the newest TDKR TV spot, with Bale saying "My wife?!", my mind immediately went to Live and Let Die, where that agent checks in at the hotel Bond was going and told the clerk she was his wife. Bond arrives later and he has a similar reaction!

Having said that, cinema runs in circles. Bond has influenced AND has been influenced equally. And sometimes it goes full circle, like in QoS, where the Bourne influences show, the funny thing being Bourne were influenced by Bond.

Yeah, after Ian died IFP wanted to continue the series after TMWTGG. They created a psudonim named Robert Markham who was gonna be the name on the book with a rotating cast of writers. The first one to be published was Colonel Sun written by Kingsley Amis. Ludlum tried to get on the series, didnt happen so he wrote Bourne based upon Bond post YOLT/preTMWTGG when he had lost his mind and went rogue for a bunch of months.

That's interesting. Well, some people believe the success of the Bourne trilogy inspired the look and style of Craig's Bond, so I guess it came full circle and back to the franchise that inspired it in the first place.

Really? Bond being portrayed as the cold blooded killer inspired by Bourne? As if he wasn't always as such in the books, or that Sean in Dr No, or even Dalton played him that way years before a Bourne movie.

Pretty much every literary spy (which Bourne is) is a reaction to Bond's shadow. LeCarre went more realistic with it (Smiley), Deighton got deeper into tradecraft (Day Of The Jackal), Ludlum the out of control asset (Bourne). All reactionary to or building upon something Ian already touched upon.

I enjoy Bourne as much as the next guy. In fact, I'm a spy fiction nerd and there's nary a spy novel one could name that I have not read but I'm not gonna lavish praise on Bourne because of 1 good movie and 2 unwatchable ones.
