The Amazing Spider-Man Jamie Foxx IS Electro

I'll bite.

Why do you think Superman is pretty stupid?
Dammit, you just had to bite, lol.

So here's my two cents. The Greek gods had plenty of drama in their lives, and they were just as overpowered as Superman. Take a Greek god and have him raised by humans and then you have even more dramatic potential. There are different types of drama than just "the everyman" kind that Spidey fans enjoy. Superman is a character born of two worlds, forever caught between them. He's far from stupid just because he's powerful, and as long as other characters can kill him OR people he cares about, there's also tension in his stories. Everyone of course as a right to dislike him, but he's mythic - he's not supposed to be comparable to characters like Spidey who are designed to be everyman self-identification figures. He's made for completely different types of stories. If those kinds of stories are not your cup o' tea, that's fine. Everyone has their own qualities they're looking for in a superhero story. That doesn't make the characters who don't feature in the types of stories you like stupid. I personally have yet to read a Spidey story that gets to me the way All-Star Superman does, and that's a story that could only be told with a character like Superman because of how god-like he is. And for the record, I love Spider-man as well.

As for MoS, while it's MY most anticipated superhero flick of next year, there's absolutely no way it's more highly anticipated by general audiences than the Marvel offerings, imo. But that's to be expected since the last movie featuring those characters is one of the biggest movies of all-time and loved by critics and audiences alike, while the last movie featuring Supes was...SR. MoS has an uphill battle when it comes to audience anticipation, but all it would take is one kick-ass trailer to get people interested again, so let's hope the next trailer is up to snuff.

The concept of Superman is stupid because he is an utterly unrelatable character and can you weave suspense and drama with an indestructible character who can bench press planets? Don't get me wrong, I've read and watched some great drama with Superman over the years (the first two Superman movies, Superman Elite, the JL cartoon and the grant Morrison run) but by and large the character is over powered and tedious.

Someone that feels as if they don't belong; you're right, that's totally unrelatable :cwink:

1. He is too powerful and has like every super power known to man,
2. If he comes in contact with kryptonite, a 5 year old girl could kick his ass.

Even with having every power known to man, the idea that kryptonite can weaken him to where a five year old girl can kick his ass cancels out Superman being "all powerful" and makes it quite interesting, imo.

3. His secret identity is also dumb. He puts on glasses and combs his hair and no one recognizes him.

It's not dumb if they ever bring up the old idea of Clark Kent using hypnosis to hide his secret, which I hope is used in Man of Steel.

4. He is a super powered alien, but his main enemy is a normal, bald business man

I'll agree only for the fact that I am not a fan of Lex Luthor. I mean, I'm not all too thrilled about Zod being the villain as I'd rather see Brainiac, but it's sure better than Lex being used once again.

5. Maybe this is just me, but it also seems that he gets hypnotized, mind controlled, or turned evil like every other day

The fact that if this is true, why are people complaining about Superman being so powerful if all of that can happen?

Wait let me get this straight. You're saying that Iron man 3 isn't the most anticipated comic book film coming out next year? And that Superman is?
Where are you even getting that from, other than your own baseless conjecture?
43 million views vs 3 million views.... Hmmmm, that's a real tough one to figure out.
And you can't honestly use the hype as an example. This place is full of superhero diehards who are in no way an example of the GA, who is generally waaay more apathetic to this stuff than us.
As I said, numbers don't lie: 43 million to 3 million. And the former just came out only like two, three weeks ago.
I'd love to see someone try to make an argument that Iron man 3 isn't the most hotly anticipated, so by all means, someone please do.

So numbers don't lie? Then I suppose The Avengers was not the first or second anticipated CBM of the three(TA, TDKR, TAS-M)?

The Dark Knight Rises - 30 million

The Amazing Spider-Man - 19 million

The Avengers - 18 million

And as for the Hype!, I am only suggesting that Man of Steel does have a fanbase and you're also kidding yourself if the general audience are not pleased to be seeing Superman on the big screen as he's one of the major guys that everyone knows.

Agree with the first part, lol

The first trailer to debut for a film typically has the least amount of views, while the second one generally has more meat to it and gets more hype going, thereby getting more views.
This is true of both the ASM trailer and the Avengers trailer.
You picked the first Avengers trailer that came out and compared it to the second ASM to come out, casually disregarding the second Avengers trailer that came out with 37 million views (which is the first thing you see on youtube when you type in Avengers so I doubt you didn't see it):

And also, the first official ASM trailer with a measly one million views:

So when comparing them in an equal, fair manner.... yeah looks like my point still stands. Matter of fact according to your own analogy it's pretty telling how hyped a movie is based on amount of youtube views, further solidifying my own point.

Even so, listing the number of views of the past years CBM films is hardly germane to the conversation when you're talking about a difference of 3 million to 43 million.
You do know how big of a difference that is, correct? There's no way to argue this and it's amusing that you're attempting to.

So one could say....wait for the next Man of Steel trailer? :woot:

Maybe, you'd have to wait and see.
But since the difference between the first Iron Man trailer and the first Man of steel trailer was so huge I doubt the results would be that different. Maybe not as drastic but I think it'd be more or less the same results.

Not drastic indeed.

Numbers on YouTube does not matter as much it didn't matter with the big three CBMs this summer.

Red Son.
All Star Superman.
Superman and the Elite.
What ever happened to the man of tomorrow.
Great stories but imho good superman stories are few and far between as it is difficult to write good stories for a character who can (LITERALLY) blow people away.
I have stacks of Batman trades, Spidey, trades, Daredevil trades and so on but I think I have 6 superman books in my entire collection.

I didn't know Superman was going to be in this.

*Yawns and rubs his eyes groggily* Have we gotten back to talking about Electro or Jamie Foxx yet?

I guess there's not really much to talk about until we get some more news. I already tried at least twice to steer the discussion back to Electro.

How do you think theyre gonna handle Electro?

I wonder if theyll go the corrupt businessman route like James Cameron did

I like the idea of low life thug, who volunteered for experimentation, to get more power.

You could have the angle that Max Dillion is a two bit crook who is a bit stupid and just want to make a fast buck by allowing Oscorp to experiment on him for a massive fee but with the Electrical power also stimulates the electrical impluses in his brain to make him intelligent as well as powerful. So at first he just want money but after he gets his powers and brains he wants to run the joint.

Power struggle. He gets the power from Oscorp, gets addicted to the power and Oscorp has to regain it. Peter has to loses and has to regain control (or power) in his life. Norman is a hidden power, until maybe the end.

I hope you don't mean Peter loses his powers, as in Spider-Man powers. Been there, done that.

I don't remember that specific issue, but I hope there will be a good dose of humiliation dished out.
