The Amazing Spider-Man Jamie Foxx IS Electro

Not bad. Not my first choice but not bad. I actually really liked his acting in Collateral. I think it's a bold move making the character black and not some of the lesser known characters black such as Hammerhead.

It should be interesting to see play out. I just really hope they don't make him 'sympathetic' like every other villain before.

I so far probably prefer this casting choice in ASM2 to the Woodley/ MJ casting choice. That one is just awful.

Jamie Foxx is an excelent choice if he is going to play Electro. He may give the villain a whole new look, you know, him being african american. Bad ass.

just praying they recast garfield. dude was a pretty crappy spider man

I don't want to sound like a TASM fanboy or anything, but all I have to say is Heath Ledger and Tom Hardy. IIRC people were saying bad things about those choices before TDK and TDKR came out. Im just saying it could turn out really well. We just have to wait and see

Bingo

Hah.

Garfield is just kind of an ugly guy to look at. He talks way too fast. His Parker was awful. Why tell Gwen? Inside the costume again not enough jokes. A few scenes. His best scene was yelling at the end. He looked old as hell. I never understood why not just cast a teenager? I could go on.

"Gotta pay the toll troll..."

Huh, is there any way I can delete my last post. I mean if I can't express my opinion what's the point? I watched the movie and gave it an A-. Best comic book movie of the year. The only thing I felt holding it back was Garfield and Stone. Just my opinion. SHould have hired a real teenager for Parker.

I'm surprised by the positivity behind this possible casting news...even though the thread title suggests he got the role...

I always pictured Electro as "over the top" and I'd see Foxx as a more inspired subtle character. So if this happens, I'm intrigued.

And for the record, I thought a lot of people were going to hate this news. But whatever, nerds are unpredictable.

Garfield was believable as a late teen so i don't see how you think he "looked old as hell". His Parker was a lot more accurate than Tobey's in my opinion. Maguire was too nerdy and Garfield talked too fast....i mean...you're never gonna please everyone.

"What makes villains interesting to me is what they bring out in Peter," Webb explained. "What challenges they provide for him. What's great about Marvel and other comics is that often there's a pre-existing relationship... It's not just about the physical conflict he has, but the emotional ones as well."

"What's exciting about moving forward is that, in the first movie, I had to still honor some of the important elements of the origin story," Webb says. "But I also wanted to redefine the context of it because I'm building a different universe than what we've seen before. A lot of the nuance is quite different. Now, as we're approaching the sequel, it's really exciting because I feel quite liberated. I have a universe that's my own. I don't have an obligation to the origin story. It's pretty fun and exciting and I can dig deeper into the parents."

As the sequel gears up for production, Webb says he's already had conversations about the viral marketing and that he's certain the sequel will offer as in-depth an ARG as the first film did. He also teased that the sequel may feature some scenes shot specifically for IMAX.

I am looking forward to this.

I definitely see this working.

But you're perfectly ok with Foxx as Electro.

:whatever:

Huh. You know, I know Black Lightning (Jesus Christ, real subtle name there, DC) is a DC character, so I doubt they'll be able to use a design like this, but it'd be pretty cool for Electro. I'd still prefer he become pure energy and have that have some sort of effect on his suit like in TSSM, though.

They need someone the will make people care about a nearly unknown villian like electro to the GA. CASTING foxx atleast will peak peoples interest, because any spider-man movie with electro as the main villian, will need star power.

Funny enough, to me Garfield was too good looking and hip to be Parker. While I can see him as an outcast, he's the type that Flash would pick on.
