she is especially his plaything, so the fact he lost her is probably grating him. had he got rid of her himself then yeah emotion would be out of character, but looking at the trailers, in a way batman takes her from him (the fact that he pushes the car in the water with her would be irrelevant to him imo - batman took something that belongs to him and locked it away). people who can't love anyone still feel jealousy, possessiveness and ownership - even more the someone with a normal emotional range.

True love of Joker? That's quite a departure from my beloved "Mad Love" graphics novel.

He can feel possessive ect but it still (I feel) goes against his forte. He's a whatever kind of character, his M.O. Is to cause pain and agony to anything and everyone he comes across and there isn't much room for him to be a love sick puppy over some brainwashed psychiatrist that he turned sadistic. Does he enjoy her company? Perhaps, I'm sure it doesn't go beyond that much, he's not a loving type of person.

Harley works best in animation where there is room for goofiness and a lighter Joker.

Joker emotionless? He's not a robot roaming the streets. He can be happy, disappointed, angry.

If you mean he has a lack of empathy, that doesn't mean he can't miss Harley.

Thank you. If you're going to complain about him missing Harley you might as well complain about the fact that he even took her as his side-kick & girlfriend to begin with.

The whole point of the Joker is that you can't understand his psychology or what makes him tick. Kind of hard to say what he would or wouldn't do when he's the most unpredictable character in comic book history.

^^ Animated series pal, I love it but let's stop acting like the animated series is the gospel

Heard about him seeking out Harley from people who watched screenings before... not crazy about this. Will see how it'll play out in the film.

I'd say he likes Harley less as a person and more as a thing he wants to own.

Both versions always ran together for me, animated and comics.

The animated series was terrific but they couldn't make a completely homicidal psychopathic Joker, they had to take liberties to make him more kid friendly and adding a loving relationship with Harley was a good way. I don't think she ever needed to become a canon character.

as you say, he causes pain and agony to everyone so someone willingly coming back for more must perplex and intrigue him and he obviously found her interesting enough for her to become his girlfriend/sidekick/partner. it all depend on the movie explaining why she becomes those things for him in the first place and from there we can see his reaction when she is gone. talking about it round and round is pointless especially as their story and the joker himself have many iterations.

idk, i like to think about the psychology of a matter or character, i hate explanations of anyone's behavior that are "it just is, no clarification needed". even his lack of a proper backstory tells a tale - he doesn't want anyone ever to know where he came from and what exactly made him into the joker.

I get the impression it's more the media trying to sell it as "true love" to people who know nothing about these characters. I certainly hope so because I think it would be pretty OOC.

^^ most likely. after all most people associate harley quinn with "joker's girlfriend". playing up on it can't hurt as any movie always looks for a romance, even a demented one as this.

It's not true love. And the Joker thinks of Harley as an object. Someone takes it away he gets pissed off. He's so used to having it at his disposal that when it's not around he wishes it was.

That's the extent of it. Saying that psychopaths like the Joker or the Joker himself can't think like this is folly. Why? Because he's completely ****ing unpredictably misanthropic and insane and you have no idea what he will or won't do. He's completely unburdened by morality or social norms and he revels in it.

Not a fan of the true love interpretation
Joker loves Harley but its more like the love you have for your favorite blanket or your favorite chair

You don't always have to have your favorite blanket or cup but when you do you feel better.
Harley imo is like property to him.

This is the nature of the Joker/Harley relationship;

I've heard Joker does some horrible things to Harley in this movie.

So his view of love...is not like the regular person.

His views on love have always been a sardonic take, one that mocks love. I.E. With Donna Gugina, horrible story but he does say "I love you in my own special way." It's not real love and he's not going to be some sad love struck puppy dog. However he also made love to her too so that's also weird.

^^ Read the first part of your post Mr. Emotional

No one is emotional, certainly not me. You just don't make any sense whatsoever & your posts are nonsensical.

No reason for me to be emotional because making a valid point is beyond your area of expertise.

But carry on.

Nonsensical? Why because they do not match your opinions? You're rediculous, I just want you to know that. My posts make plenty of sense, you posted something and I retorted with something on topic and you apparently can't handle that so you have to resort to subtle insults, it's all gravy though. ;)

We know he hits her and most likely tortures her so he obviously doesn't love her all that much. I agree with what others have said, he considers her as property and so he gets annoyed when it's (she's) taken away from him. I've always interpreted it as him finding her amusing/interesting and thus he keeps her around, but he certainly doesn't 'love' her, at least in the sense that most of us would love someone. But at the same time, that doesn't mean he can't miss her when she's not there.

*ridiculous

Oh heaven forbid I misspell a word for once.. Great contribution.
