Jared Leto IS The Joker - - - - - Part 14

Well maybe "suck" isn't the right word but it's not good either (IMO). The premise was interesting I.E. Bruce coming out of retirement, however everything else was just atrocious and it sickens me that it is regarded by many as "The best Batman story".

Eh, I could say the same about Year One, The Long Halloween and Dark Victory. I think they're all a touch overrated (DKR included). At the end of the day, I'd qualify DKR as the best Batman story since I had more fun reading it than I did the other big graphic novels that influenced Nolan's trilogy. The hype surrounding each of these probably impacted my overall enjoyment (ie failing to live up to the hype).

I don't know if I'd all DKR a Joker story, though. Stuff like The Killing Joke (haven't read it yet) and The Man Who Laughs (another one that was pretty meh for me) and the Brian Azzarello Joker graphic novel (Didn't like it or hate it all that much, but I enjoyed it a bit more than TMWL) are more what come to mind when I think of Joker stories.

Am I missing anything worth reading for the Joker (Killing Joke aside)?

The Dark Knight Returns is incredible.
Agreed. Deserves all the praise it gets. However I think other comics should get their time in the sun. TDKR has been mined from heavily.

I know that most of all of us in this thread are super excited about this version of the Joker, what if it turns out that he isn't that great or live up to the hype? I don't THINK it will happen, but there is always that chance... sorta like BVS. I went into that movie knowing I was getting ready to see something spectacular and I was SUPER excited about seeing Lex and I left the movie with a weird look on my face and my wife asking me what I thought... and I couldn't answer right away. I had to let it simmer a bit on the car ride home.
I try not to get my expectations too high, but being that Joker is my fav villain... its hard for me not too. I just want the perfect amount of Leto in this movie with some really memorable lines and some jaw dropping stuff coming from him. Is that too much to ask>?
I know the spoilers are going to start hitting the interwebz very soon. I might just take a little vacation from here till I see the movie.

Still trying to figure out a way to get tickets to an early screening...

In reply to the top 10 Joker comics, The Dark Knight Returns sucks.

I hear that thrown around a lot. I don't understand it personally. Imo it's a brilliant look at the time period it came out of and a fascinating take on the characters at thier worse.

I read it probably every year at some point

I know Will (@bestever23) and he is legit whether you agree with his opinion or not is up to you. I've been facebook friends with him for a few years and somehow he gets to see movies super early as well as blu-ray's sent to him weeks in advance.

For some reason I'm starting to actually feel a bit excited for this movie...

What's so wrong about what he said?
Is it just that he said something positive about BvS and only gave CW 3/5?

I disagree with his rating for CW, but agree with no memorable villain or consequences.

While CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR is arguably the superior picture, I'd argue that BATMAN V SUPERMAN may have a bigger pop culture impact.

More people are talking, good or bad, about BvS than Civil War. It has some amazing action (CW), but the movie doesn't stay with you. Its just a great summer film. The further I get away from I only care to re-watch it for the action scenes.

They seem pretty accurate opinions tbh.

I wouldn't exactly call BvS a great film, but I agree about the rest. I think I actually said the exact thing about TC being a Batman film and UC a Superman one.

For some reason I'm starting to actually feel a bit excited for this movie...

I was never excited for SS, only interested in it. I did find myself graduating from being just interested to being very interested as of late, though.

:lmao: It good thing most not think that lol.
Judging by your profile gif you probably would think that. personal opinion is everything too me and tbh im not guna let some random person tell me that i shouldn't enjoy a movie because the "majority" did not.
bvs imo was a masterpiece, and you or anybody can argue that all day with me but its not going to change my opinion.
