Technically speaking, though, isn't this version older than any past film version? I do recall Leto saying that he's much, much older than he seems. Which would mean they're heavily leaning towards the New 52 version. Fits right along with what you're saying about him, too.

He didn't exactly say that. He said that he imagines that the Joker might be older than he actually seems. But if I recall correctly, he wasn't even specifically talking about this version of the Joker, but the Joker in general.

Spoilerly about Joker from reddit. Seems more Azzarello inspired

Spoiler is not a big deal. Just a hint of how different this Joker is then the others. If you read "Joker" you'll know what its talking about.

I've enjoyed the little hints of inspiration from "Joker".

So apparently they deleted a lot of Joker scene. Let's just say maybe his screentime won't let him to stay in memory like Nicholson or Ledger...

First of all "marvelboy" I hope your name doesn't imply what I think and that you're gonna come in here to try and start **** and rile people up. Secondly, even if some of them were cut down we already knew he was only a small portion of this film. The film focuses on the squad. He was never intended to be a huge role, he will obviously player a larger role in the DCEU down the line (solo Batman film). So don't even try baiting to start ****. Give it a rest.

I've been coming to this board to lurk for quite a while. As a life-long Batman (and equally big Joker) fan, I'm super stoked for this movie and it is such a weird bummer to see people going to pieces and trolling over such sparse pieces of non-information. Crazy. Can't wait to check this out Thursday.

There's a lot of real information coming out from people who've seen it (including me) but I do think it's a tad overboard seeing people getting so distraught about it. Remember at the end of the day, it's just a film.

Nope don't worry, i'm a DCfan. I love BVS more than any marvel studio which i find generic. Batman, Superman and the Joker are my favorite characters of all time. I know the movie focus on the squad but the Joker was also intented to have a relative big role (maybe less than deadshot and Harley but...). More like Black Panther in Civil War for example.

Right but to say he won't be memorable like Jack or Heath at this point is dumb honestly. It's kinda silly to say too even after we see SS. Because he is not the primary villain like he was in Batman 89 or TDK and because he does not have Batman to have a back and forth with, like he did in those 2 films. So honestly until he's in a Batman movie and can have that back and forth with Batfleck and really have a bigger role, it's silly to say he won't be memorably like the other 2 cinematic Jokers.

Exactly, which we pretty much knew for a long time now. He's a side cameo/story. The core of this film is the Squad.

Ehem. Anthony Hopkins was memorable with just 15 minutes of screentime in Silence of the Lambs, so anything can happen fam.

EDIT: Black Panther isnt a cameo, Spidey is.

First of all, don't call me fam. And second yes I know anyone can be memorable even with little screen time. My point though is to compare him overall in terms of lasting memory as Joker to the other 2 cinematic Jokers after this film would be silly. We need to see him up against Batfleck in that solo film. The chemistry the two have and the back and forth, like we did in Batman 89 and TDK. Then we can really say ok he was a really memorable Joker like the others or not.

Jeez sorry for trying to be friendly...

We can be friendly. Just don't refer to me as stupid **** like "fam" haha.

I still don't know what fam is supposed to mean.

It's seems like it's some dumb new slang teens/people are using nowadays and I don't want any part of that ****.

It means you look famished.

One of my favorite interviewers with Jared Leto today. Veryyyyy interesting that he says the Joker is always "evolving". Sounds promising if he's in the solo Batfleck film

Really bummed that they cut so many of Jared's scenes... like what the actual ****?

I don't mind that Joker isn't a big focus on the film, in fact the Squad should be the main focus.

My issues lay partly in his performance, characterisation and the fact that yes, his lack of screen time does have some impact on his staying power with myself. He didn't leave a great impression on me after seeing it, I felt The Joker was a tad two-dimensional and that The Joker I was seeing was a gangster/mob boss in a Jokerish appearance (still have issues with his look myself), not the actual Joker. I felt Leto had a few spotty moments of over-acting or doing his best to seem crazy but ended up feeling a tad forced or try-hard. It didn't feel too natural to me compared to say someone like Ledger.

I may be alone in my thoughts after the film and that's perfectly fine, but that's my impression on his performance a day after seeing it.
