Exactly this. We know these films would always get compared to the marvel universe in some ways DC will never get it right because there seems to be a blatent negativity around there films at the moment.
Regarding Jokers limited screen time and apparent scenes chopped my friends are not happy bunnies at the moment. I'm not overly concerned but I can understand if the GA are bothered by this.
Very interesting times for our Universe at the minute guys. Very polarized opinions and others dissecting if DC are out of there depth. I just find it fascinating and abit sad that the fans,GA and critics can't click with these films.
Its because Warners doesn't know their audience. Scratch that, its not a matter of not knowing the audience. It is a matter of not defining their audience.
Who is Suicide Squad targeted at? Based on the first Comic Con teaser, character designs, etc, 15 year old misanthropic, pseudo-philosophers and wanna be Hot Topic goths. But then the second teaser drops and it seems to be focusing on humor, quirkiness, etc. Suddenly it is targeting the Guardians of the Galaxy/Deadpool type of audience. Then it gets an R rating. Then another trailer comes that shifts back to the action drama angle.
It just never seemed to define a tone/target audience. It tries to please everyone and when you do that, you please no one.
BvS was no different. DC gave Snyder the keys to the vault and basically told him "universe build...BUT DARK AND GRITTY DAMNIT!"
So they want to build a universe/tent pole franchise...but at the same time, they want it to be dark and nihilistic, locking out one of the most marketable demographics: children.
Say what you will about Marvel, while each film is unique, the tone and brand is consistent. They have a plan and they are executing it. DC does not. They want to be in Phase 3 without ever going through 1 and 2 and with no regard as to how all of the pieces of the puzzle fit together.
