See, I can't gauge a Joker portrayal until he's acting alongside Bats. I seriously can't. Batman is like his other half, and Joker dealing with other people just doesn't really strike the same chord. If Affleck gets him in his flick somehow, either in flashbacks or just talking to him in Arkham, that will be the litmus test. I can see Batfleck seriously getting angry at this Joker.

I'd hope that if they get Leto's Joker for Batman's solo film it's not another stunted appearance and it's a leading role. I totally think it's time to place the Joker as the lead villain in Bats' solo outing again.

I agree. They're destined to do this forever!

It's a fascinating case study. WB most likely was afraid to put out a product that was too dark (after the backlash), but in the process they forgot what this movie was about AND that a movie can be dark as long as it's GOOD. They broke the movie trying to fix it. I'd love to be a fly on the wall at WB because their decisions are baffling.

Have you seen it?

Jon Schnepp says Leto rivals Heath and Jack as the Joker...for him having limited screen time.

Personally I don't see how that could be possible. Jon sometimes exaggerates but it is another person who is positive on Leto. The entire Collider crew thought he was a good Joker.

I'd be a little miffed if I were him.

This is what I was saying a couple of days ago in this thread. Can Joker be great in this and even memorable with short screen time? Sure of course he can. But I don't think myself he can be really compared to Jack or Heath just yet. Because like you said, and what I was saying, I wanna see him with Batfleck.

I wanna see that back and fourth, them working and feeding off of one another. That interaction. Then we can really get an even better sense. What we are getting now in SS is just a nice little taste, the appetizer. Him and Bats is the main course.

Honestly he was bad. Like some emo kid who only cares about his girlfriend. I'm not even sure if he was the real Joker. No joke.

And that critic who said Leto's Joker is like Tony Montana if he was played by Jim Carrey was spot on, to be honest.

Oh great!

Matt Goldberg didn't like him.

"The movie doesn’t know how to handle the Joker either. When you see how little screentime he has and how utterly unnecessary he is to the story, you can almost hear the pre-production meeting where someone said, “No one knows who these characters are; we need a villain with name-recognition,” and that’s how Joker got shoehorned into the script. It doesn’t help that, for all of his highly publicized on-set antics to “get into character”, Leto is a lousy Joker. His performance is a collection of tics, and since the movie doesn’t spend any real time developing his character, he’s merely a crazy guy with green hair. Rather than exist in the movie, Leto wants the audience to know how hard he’s working, and so while his co-stars actually inhabit and make their characters oddly likable, Leto scrambles just to keep up.

You can’t watch Leto over-acting his heart out and not roll your eyes, especially when he’s in the company of a great actor like Viola Davis."

I can't really disagree with that Collider excerpt, my thoughts line up with it unfortunately :(

i say jokers having a bit of a midlife crisis. i mean the man found a young piece of gorgeous ass in harley that was as crazy as him and wanted to bang him of her own free will. and the came batman and took her. the man is anxious to get his girl back. he has to think about his legacy and she is in perfect child baring years right now. got to make that gangster dynasty in time.

I really wanted to see that shot in the film of him saying "buh-bye!"

The amount of cut scenes seems really disappointing. :csad:

Is it any worse than him and Barbara bumping uglies? That whole thing just creeps me out.

Really disagree with that. I think for the last two Batman film series the "Joker film" was/is seen as the best of the series, I'd really like to see another Batman in a great film with a non-Joker villain.

Batman is said to have the best Rogues gallery but the films keep falling back on the Joker.

I think WB is planning to use the Joker as the villain for the solo but if the reaction to Leto is negative I can see them going a different route.
