Leto's Joker is the first to truly break the fourth wall: more of him has escaped into our world than is in the movie.

there is clearly confusion on that point. both ayer and snyder insinuated that the murder happened a while ago - snayder said 10 years and ayer that the consequence was the broken teeth and damaged tattoo that he got while in arkham. logically, harley would come about then. so the title card with her being an accomplice could be a mistake, a continuity error, or an assumption and a sort of myth that grew over time that joker's girlfriend was in on the murder when in fact she wasn't.

leto probably took a while to agree to take on this role. he also probably took a long time to try and not be heath ledger. then they end up cutting most of his work and reduce him to one or two lines a scene. he still got paid but why should he be interested in doing it again unless he is the main baddie?

i would not be surprised at all if they do a bonnie and clyde/ natural born killers movie with them. thats why announcing all those solo films ahead of time was a bad idea. if they cant get it right then a movie with them woukd make a ton more money than one like cyborg.

I agree. The potential is there...it's just the matter of making it work in a way that it doesn't fall short otherwise you end with another mess and Id hate to see these solo films never seeing the light of day.

That would never work as a movie. You can't make a solo Joker and Harley Quinn movie in the DCEU.

They weren't even willing to go all in with Joker and Harley for this film.

I don't like the idea of a Joker and Harley solo anyway. Joker works best as an enemy to Batman. The idea of him and Harley goofing around for 2 hours without Batman doesn't appeal to me at all.

What is solo Joker Harley film even about then?

At this point if there's any supporting character who could carry their own film, it's Harley. Her popularity is through the roof now (even her comic is outselling the main Batman title).

Rather than an outright Bonnie & Clyde inspired film, I'd probably so more of an ensemble picture where they headline. Sprinkle in a bit of Gotham Central, Sirens, and Birds of Prey. The Bat-universe is vast, they can really take advantage of the lower-level echelon of crime. No large-scale threats or destruction. Just a really fun and violent crime thriller romance.

Plus you could make Batman the film's "antagonist."

The sex appeal in such a movie would be outrageous. If they cast Ivy and Selina as well as they have with Harley...what a trifecta. I'd probably attend every stateside Comic Con just to oogle at the cosplayers.

Making Joker an antihero is just wrong wrong wrong. When Joker is being seen as sexy or hot, or desirable and the Harley Joker relationship the same, well that is a bad thing. And a fundamental misunderstanding of the characters.
