The Joker's wide mouthed smile is the most iconic thing about his face. Whether it's a deliberate smile (comics), a permanent smile (Batman 89) or a painted on smile (TDK). This is the first time I've ever seen the Joker make this expression.

Strangely enough, yes it does. The symmetry is even more unsettling.

I'm ALMOST starting to dig the Damaged tattoo for some reason. I thought there would be no way to excuse it, loved everything else BUT that tattoo.... but. Yeah, it might be a while.


To add to the discussion. I think we have our own ideas of what the Joker should be and we often don't realize that this person exists in a cinematic universe where the city knows him as a Joker. I think the tattoos with "HAHA's" and "Jester-skull" made him known to his victims and the public as "Joker." Not having those little elements as part of his brand (and I do think the Joker throughout his incarnations have some level of awareness towards that) and just having make-up would simply make him look like a clown who does bad things. This is the Joker and this is what the people of Gotham identifies him as.

People aren't picking it apart. I brought it up because it bothered me and I think I would be more accepting of the look if he was actually making the classic Joker expression. The look combined with the expression he's actually using makes him look like a glam rocker.

I think the tattoos and grill doing a fine enough job with that. The new look is so extreme that his facial expression isn't going to change peoples opinions on it.

Every single comic panel of the Joker on the internet has his mouth shaped in a SMILE. The corners of his mouth angled upwards.
