Just watch. By the end of the movie, he'll leap into the chemicals, and come out whiter and less tattooed than ever ;)

That will be the premise of the solo Batfleck film, Joker wants to revenge his cool tattoos.

Love some of the creative aspects and the distinct feel of the overall look. "Damaged" on the forehead is a bit plainly obvious. It all feels very Ayer which makes me even more curious about the film itself and all the other visual aspects of it. A more classic Joker look would have been more instantly pleasing on a first contextless look, this is more intriguing and the context of how it will work with the performance and within the film itself a big "wait and see" factor.

I feel like the vibrant green, comic booky hair and the purple glove does a lot for the overall feel, giving in a fun edge so to speak.

I have mixed feelings on the look. I like that they're trying to do something a bit different. And I also recognise that, in a lot of ways, this is closer to a classic Joker look than Heath Ledger's TDK Joker, who I of course loved and whose look I always defended. Leto's Joker has bleached white skin, he has bright green hair and red lips, and he doesn't have some scarring gimmick to force his mouth into an eternal grin.

But that somehow makes the changes more frustrating. With Ledger, I could respect the painted-white face and the Glasgow smile as a bold re-contextualisation, a well-crafted answer to the question of, "How do you fit The Joker into the grounded world created in Batman Begins?" But here, in Suicide Squad, a world has been established where The Joker CAN have white skin and green hair, where he CAN have his classic comics look, and so the changes we get feel more arbitrary.

I'm not overly opposed to the tattoos in general. There's nothing to suggest The Joker absolutely would not get tattoos, and you won't see most of them once he's wearing a dapper purple suit. The only ones that are awful are the "Damaged" on his forehead and the little J prison-style gangsta tattoo. Because those will always be visible. I also dislike the steel-capped teeth that could screw up his famous grin.

So, the look's not perfect, but there's a lot it does get right. I'll keep an open mind.

Having tatts all over his body is his way of dealing with the situation of being in a maximum security prison outside of Arkham.

Hey wait a second, I didn't know Joker was meant to be in a prison, is this confirmed?

Is it possible that if there's enough backlash the design will be altered? I honestly just hate it so god damn much, it's not Joker to me at all.

I know a stretch, was just wondering if something similar has happened before.

Fan backlash has altered things (like half the intended plot of the latest Ninja Turtles movie) and killed movies all together (the JJ Abrahms Superman movie).

But they're already filming this, it's a little too late. And they obviously personally think this is a good design, and are under no obligation to change it just because fans don't like it. And, as much as I hate the look, I'd kind of think less of them for caving.

If the rumours are true in BvS and SS, that Bruce hasn't been Batman since the death of Robin, which was allegedly in 2000. Around 15 years, Joker has remained in the Asylum, with no reason of leaving, because Batman is no longer around for him to torment. So, unlike the comatose Miller Joker from TDKR, he's remained still very much active, and keeping with the Morrison adaptation, he's either claimed that look to adapt to his surroundings, or just like regular Joker, he's done it to poke fun at the situation, as comedians do.

He'll harness this prison getup for a while, for SS.
But will that remain for a solo Batman film? My guess is probably not. He'll go back to the classic purple suit. Will the tattoos remain? Might do. Will that be a problem? Just the two on his face and head. That will definitely clash with the classic, purple suit, I think. But I won't let it bother me.

However, something tells me, the facial tattoos, or at least all of them, will be gone by the end of the film, or by the next Batfleck film. If not, as I said, I won't let it bother me.

One or two unique and original tatts that say something interesting about Joker in a way that would be covered by the suit would be okay. Completely unneccessary, but liveable.

The real thing is that Joker's regular look is extreme enough that he doesn't need tattoos. He more or less IS one, in a way.

Yeah, ***** tattooed Joker!

Oh wait...

No-one's saying it's never happened in the comics. But that was also an invention of Bat**** crazy Miller in a piece of **** comic series he never even bothered to finish.

One of the better comparisons I've seen.

ALL STAR BATMAN AND ROBIN had some of the best art in Batman's world (Jim Lee!) and some of the worst portrayals (Frank Miller over the past two decades). Ironically nobody even saw that Joker cause they didn't even bother to finish it.

Scott Snyder's Joker (both 'Leatherface' and current one) are even crazier but still 100% Joker. How far is too far always applies and there are extremities that just don't fit. Maybe 'damaged' tattoo will fit once we see him in action, but right now I'm not feeling it. Overall it's both yes and no for me, cause there are lots of conflicting elements colliding.

Personally, I love his new look, he looks creepy, crazy and even a little scary which yo me is how The Joker should look. The more I see and hear of this movie the more I look forward to it.

What's current joker? Does he have his face back again?

And the problem with the "damaged" tattoo isn't that it's not joker, it's that it would be 100% lame on absolutely anyone. 99% of the time, any face tattoo is lame on anyone.

And it's just so on the nose. The only way it could be worse is if it was LITERALLY on the nose.

@lujho

I was really hoping for something resembling current new 52 look... horrific but still classy.

It is how it is, some folks like it, most don't... is anybody really loving it? Not sure, not yet. But more than interesting first reaction all across the board that's for sure.

You know the premise of Suicide Squad, right?

No, so feel free to enlighten me if you know the exact premise of the film. I was under the assumption he was in Arkham, especially because of one of the set photos that proved that some scenes may take place there.
