Remember when a very small minority of people actually thought Joker wouldn't have multiple looks in the film?
:funny: I remember.
Another day, another round of "Where in the World is Jared Leto."
Now he's in Toronto :sly:
I think they're just cuts and that this is taking place after they've had a physical run-in with Batman (in the past).
:hmm
OSCAR winning actor. Don't forget about that. :o
I don't, it's just too much for Wolfie to take :o
Give Lex his suit and glove back, Joker!

Suicide Squad: Scott Eastwood "Afraid" to Talk to Jared Leto as The Joker

We've all seen Jared Leto as The Joker with his green hair and ghoulish makeup from the upcoming Suicide Squad.
It is quite the scary sight.
Scott Eastwood, who plays a military man in the film, hints that the Oscar winner may have gone all method for his work in the superhero villain flick.
"I was sort of afraid to approach him because I didn't want to mess with his thing going on," Eastwood told E! News exclusively yesterday at the Maui Film Festival, where he was honored with the Rising Star Award. "But I knew him before. I met him before he was The Joker. I just met him as Jared Leto. So I didn't know if I wanted to mess up his thing."

I know this is really late, but looking at the old threads, I looked at the picture of Jared Leto’s Joker and I can’t believe it.

I don’t understand why they’d give him tattoos, I can understand they’re trying to appeal to the teens of this generation, but shouldn’t Joker have some class? I know Joker isn’t “classy” in an attitude sense, but when it comes to attire, he is quite dapper and he’s a great showman. I would expect something else from a grill and tat.

I guess its okay, just as long as Leto gives a good performance.

So if he wears a white suit and stays in shape, but for the tattoos, he's not dapper... OK...

I really wouldn’t expect Joker to be interested in tattoos, and I don’t see many dapper people having tattoos. As long as he wears a suit over the tats, I’ll be fine.

Joker is a malleable and not just a fixed character. He has some main traits, but he adapts to the enviroment and to the things he sees and experiences. that's the point.
well, dapper is not a definite concept that comprises just some traits and forbids other ones. It's just that this character is adapting to the new era and it's fitting in his own twisted way. He's not going to look the same way all the time, that'll become oldfashioned and bland. If they respect the traits of the look (permawhite, vain, green hair, smile (and the fact that this Joker is established already and that smile may be Batman's fault), and mannerisms) which I think they are doing, I think the character stays true to the original while having a modern look IMO of course.

But that was just discussed already. He has them, we don't know the true meaning or reasons, that's what matters to me in the end.

The problem is his suit doesn't hide those horrendous facial tattoos. They stand out like a sore thumb. Not to mention the suits we've seen him wear have the shirt wide open at the chest showing off those ugly chest tattoos.

Tattoos are very fashionable now, 'hipsters' wear smart clothes and usually have full or half sleeves and beards!
Point being, dapper people DO have tattoos moreso these days... (hate to say it) but have you never seen David Beckham?

Snyder and Goyer have them. :o

having features that elevate respect, elegance, romance, sexiness, and most of all, charm and style.
Dapper men in media history include Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Darren Criss, Robert Redford, and Christopher Plummer.

Men with beards and a top hat in the 1800s are the origin of a man being considered "dapper".
A dapper man is a gentleman, and will pay the bill on a date, appropriately respect a woman and compliment her when a compliment is needed.

He is like a hipster in the sense that he does not need to try to have a keen sense of style in the appropriate setting.
Darren Criss is the most dapper man I have ever seen.

O my gosh! Did you see how dapper Darren Criss was on glee?

I love when Astaire dances! His moves are so dapper!

My boyfriend proposed to me as the sun was setting. He is so dapper!

I don't think being dapper or even vain is one of the main traits of the Joker, I don't really see it present in his first incarnation. He is well dressed, but every one was, especially gangsters (in films and comic books), in 1939. He feels more like a cross between a Dick Tracy villain and Conrad Veidt in TMWL, with a clown/Joker card motif, but I don't really see the vanity.
Same thing for two other great incarnations, TKJ and TDK.
Regardless of tats or grill etc., I have high hopes for Jared Leto's Joker because of the madness in his eyes in that 1st official pic and also the fact that he is a great actor. (I felt the same way about Heath Ledger.)

Joker's also got a very strong streak of ostentatious obnoxiousness. He usually wears a suit, often tailored, but it's got garish colors and a lot of eye-catching personalization. He mixes anachronistic fashion with modern cuts, like the loopy-knot tie he sometimes wears, or elongated coat-tails on an otherwise modern tuxedo, or a man's fedora (not of that hipster, short brim BS), and occaisionally carries a cane for no other reason than its cool. His style often seems like a mockery of current fashion while still flowing together in an stylish, if perhaps madcap and utterly unfashionable, way.

Nicholson's Joker was going for a kind of artistic popinjay-gangster mix, Ledger had a Sid Vicious style look, and now Leto is going for a kind of eccentric rock star in designer duds look.

If they wanted Joker to have any tattoos, I think it's better for them to be so over-the-top and prevalent instead of just a few on his arms or chest. Jim Lee and Frank Miller's Joker is ASBAR had a gnarly back tattoo of a dragon, but it could be concealed with a suit jacket and just kind of seemed pointless. Here, it fits with the overall design for the character. Yeah, it's kind of ugly and seems stupid, but so does an old school bow tie or pimp hat if your costume doesn't fit, and I think they've arranged Leto's look so that the tattoos are an important feature.

Surprisingly enough I've come around to the look quite a bit.
