So am I not allowed to dislike something? Leto could very well give a great performance but that doesnt mean I cannot criticize how he looks and quite frankly I'm not too fond of it.

"Was it because they were trying to make him look cool?" this is almost an assumption.

You can like it or hate it.. but don't jump into conclusions when you don't even know the reasons behind them

Well that was my immediate thought when they released the image. Because grills and tattoos are considered cool these days with rappers and gangstas having them. It was a genuine question.

I don't think Joker has the grill just because of it. If you have a big bat guy with steel knuckles and a massive strenght punching you... I think that's at least one reason behind it.

Like Lex, he's apparently based on modern businessmen of today. No longer in the 80's mindset.
Joker has constantly been stuck in the 40's era. Which is fine. But Ayer has indeed updated the style of what it means to be a gangster of today...I suppose.
But, if we ever wanted to see him in the classic suit, the tailcoat and whatnot, then the tats are going to be even more of a problem. I doubt we'll ever see classic Joker in these series of films...in my assumption

I can clearly see that it is in the first reveal pic. His teeth are still exposed, while the grill is one solid piece going across all of his teeth. And his outside teeth are just caped at the very top, while you can clearly see his white teeth extend into his gum. Go back and look. It's clear as day.

Plus, Leto doesn't have silver teeth, so it's a given.

Yeah I didn't say those silver ones are his teeth, but do you really think that the "grill" or "dental prosthesis" over his teeth or whatever it's.. It's more because of this one...

and you know... for having more resistance now while maybe having him looking as a gangsta on purpose to as he does most of the time: Mocking todays looks on people on his twisted way.

I don't understand how you can't see it? What are you missing? Look at the top grill, it's the most obvious. Aside from his two front teeth, everything else is just caped at the top. You can still see his teeth behind them. As for the bottom, it's clearly one piece, and again, you can see his teeth going into his gums.

It didn't to me at first. It looked to me like a dental prosthetic. the thing that I'm not sure if they are permanent or if they are removable. The white parts on the teeth that Trav sees could be from a guy who didn't made a perfect job at replacing or putting metal cover/prosthetic on his wrecked teeth. in other words, not a perfect job, a prison dentist job after the last Batman beat up #Speculationonly.

I genuinely can't tell if that's a grille or dental work. Seems the latter would be more interesting, though.
