Jared Leto IS The Joker - Part 9

Ayer was the one who came up with the Joker's design and concept
Snyder is the one who came up with Luthor as a young tech billionaire

So its basically the director's vision with whoever's playing in the sandbox

I love this.

I think he's going to be very concerned with money. Partly because Ledger's Joker was NOT concerned with money. They're trying to make these Joker's (no pun) as different as possible. Cant draw any real comparisons with Ledger's Joker or it will fail big time.

See, that's the thing. Comic book Joker doesn't worship money, it's one of the few things that separates him from the rest of Batman's rogues.

This Joker has flashy clothes, a flashy car, ect. And that's fine. But I don't want a money - hungry Joker.

It's like the time Joker wasn't allowed to join the Black Glove billionaires club. "What, is this about money? I've burned more money than you all have in your bank accounts put together." Or something to that effect.

My point is, Joker should enjoy money, but ironically, he is one of the few people in the world who truly believes money isn't everything. And if portraying him as such in SS is just to differentiate between he and Ledger, it would be a huge mistake imo.

I think the point of Ledger Joker not caring about money was that he got bored with it. He was a criminal who got his start by robbing banks

The Joker in the comics does care about money to a degree though most of his henchman need it to work for him. There used to be some unspoken idea that he got Arkham crazies as his henchman but that just didn't make sense after a while for someone who is a criminal mastermind. He'd hire the best help and he'd need money to do that.

I wish people would stop saying "The Joker wouldn't do this or that".

The Joker, at some point or other in the comics, probably has done the this or that in question.

The whole point of the modern Joker is that he follows no rules for himself, and is constantly reinventing himself and generally doing whatever he wants at a given time, whether there's a good reason for it or not.

So, does everyone remember the rumor of Lex being street thug-like and covered in tattoos prior to Eisenberg's casting? You think maybe that description was actually meant for the Joker?

I remember that. I think El Mayimbe was the one who fed us that info.

If this is a more street-wise Joker, perhaps he'll have a cult-like gang rather than goons for hire. Not unlike the Bloods and Crips.

I don't think that was the case. Robbing banks is a means to an end. Also a good way to get attention as he was specifically targeting mob banks, and always made sure his face could be seen on the CCTV cameras. Joker knows money is needed to get into the hierarchy in the underworld. Things like that don't come for free. But he's not the sort of criminal who cares about money, and who's chief goal is to make profit like ordinary criminals. That's why he felt he was a "better class" of criminal because he didn't care about money.

It's not an unspoken idea. They've flat out shown that he's had crazies working for him;

As for his attitude towards money, it's kind of inconsistent. Sometimes he's written as someone who's scheme has some kind of profit, other times he doesn't care about money. He even once said he's flushed loads of money down the toilet over the years;

If the metal teeth are caps/fillings meant to repair a broken smile, perhaps he makes himself over to play into that "street thug" motif.

"Metal teeth? Hilarious. What else can I do?" That sort of thing.

It's fun to speculate. I genuinely cannot wait for Ayer and Leto to open up about their take on the character.

I really looking forward to the response to the Damaged tat...

I was kind of hoping he would take questions at Comic Con. But he left rather quickly. :sly:

Everyone seems to have a different interpretation of the Joker, be it fans, comic writers or those involved in making the movies. There will always be someone who is upset in regards to him because they did not get to see their favourite interpretation. I personally don't mind if I do not get my favourite version/interpretation of the character. As long as he is a good/interesting/entertaining character then I am happy.

I'm sure the tattoos will be the first thing he is asked about.

Hear hear!
Not that I'm even worried to begin with. I've
Said since day one that he looks great. No eccentric mouth makeup or scars is a huge plus for me. That's all I've ever wanted.

I really really really think the "Damaged" tat is Harley's work.

He has the damaged tat when he's about to torture her.

Harley has Rotten tatted on her face. Did the Joker give her that out of "revenge" or is that just her being romantic :yay:

I guess it would be cool if Dr. Harleen put the tat on her patient. But I'm thinking he's had that tat long before meeting her.

Under usual circumstances, Joker wouldn't have allowed just anybody to tattoo him. It had to have been somebody he looked up to. Somebody powerful. Powerful enough to take down any man, woman or child that stood in his way.

It had to have been...

There is no definitive Joker. Hamill's voice is the definitive voice to me, but looks and persona wise, there is no one. They all have a sick sense of humor, green hair, white skin, and kill on a whim.

People have really embraced this new joker. I'd like a full high quality picture so I can see all the tattoo(there are more)
I can't wait til we see Batfleck and Letoker interact
