BvS Jason Momoa is Aquaman! - Part 2

I don't really pay attention to who is on top with film reporting, but Deadline's fairly up-to-speed when it comes to TV. So they're still my #1.

They had a separate team covering TV even when Nikki was there, so it was always fairly strong and wasn't affected much when she left.

Damn you Willi Berg for making me doubt my spelling skills. :argh:

It all makes sense. :wall:

I can't see them giving him any kind of shirt for the movie since he'll be in the water, and plus it's Jason Momoa (I dont even think they give him any kind of top in any of his roles). I'm thinking maybe some kind of aquamarina bottoms and a trident. And maybe an orange scaled cloak he wears when he's in his underwater kingdom.

I just hope they ditch the dish washing gloves. I've always hated that part.

I was just thinking the same thing. They don't look right, somehow, and their baggy design makes them clearly unsuitable for swimming.

I would have the sleeves finish in cuffs encrusted with mother of pearl and other shells.

If he is going to interact with the other characters, he'll have to come out of the water.

In any case, a permanently shirtless lead character would just raise too many chuckles and Taylor Lautner comparisons. And the scale mail is too cool not to use.

Truly, though I would love a shirtless Momoa, I agree he should be clothed. I can't support a scantily clad Momoa since I don't support a scantily clad Wondy.

Oh piss off hobknocker. I want this film to turn into the Magic Mike of superhero films. :o

Save the barbarian look for a solo film. If he is already the King of Atlantis and sitting on the throne (no toilet jokes) then he should have the full on scale mail look and trident. In a solo film we can see the origin and he can be shirtless for some parts, until he's on the Atlantean chain gang and gets the scale shirt as part of his prison uniform. When he leads a rebellion and yet afterwards still wears the prison shirt, it will have all the more meaning.

Aquaman has had shirtless costumes but I doubt they will go with the shirtless costume in the movie - it just puts a lot of pressure on the actor, specially in a franchise film. God knows they have to bust their ass for one single shirtless scene, imagine peaking and staying there for 6 months for the duration of the shoot. And then doing it for 5 more films. It is just enormously challenging for the actor. Gerard Butler and co pulled it off for 300 but that was a one-off.

So Snyder will definitely have Momoa in one of his usual "physique show off" scenes like he did with Cavill but definitely not shirtless for the entire film. Very few actors would be up to such a challenge.

I have no desire to see a shirtless Momoa for neither ogling purposes, nor conceptual purposes. He does nothing for me and even if he did, it'd be rather odd to have him interacting with the others without a shirt all the time. Scale mail would be better.

Also it would be interesting to see if Gym Jones is hired to train Momoa - it would then prove that only Affleck out of the entire cast had autonomy enough to get his own trainer, all the 6 remaining cast members who trained would have trained with Gym Jones.

It will kinda show the pecking order and make Affleck the Downey of DCCU even though technically Cavill should be the Downey.

Compared to all the others Affleck IS the Downey. He's older and has been working as a pro actor since he was a pre teen. And his star power in the industry extends to writing, directing and acting.

Considering Momoa wasn't "ripped" in GoT, I'd be interested to see what Gym Jones could do for him in a solo film. I get the feeling he could be shredded...

I'd say I agree with this. You could almost say the situations between the two are similar. Though Afleck has established himself with directing, this role represents a bit of a comeback for him. He has a lot to prove because everyone is going to mention his first turn as superhero and what a failure that was.

To me it's kinda a big duh observation as far as star power is concerned. Affleck is an A-list director and sort of an A-list actor. Henry Cavill is not of course.

I wouldn't say Affleck is RDJ exactly because we haven't seen his performance yet so we have no idea what the response to it will be.

Chris A: 9.5. Bravo. Govar really takes what’s come before with the Aquaman design and escalated it to a natural but progress permutation. Haircuts don’t normally classify as design, but I have to say the curls are really befitting of Aquaman and play well with the golden tunic. Other artists have drawn that golden tunic before, but Govar gives it a very unnatural reflective quality that is very striking. Imagine seeing Aquaman swimming in a deep undersea trench where its dark and then a luminescent sea creature gives light to glint off that. That would be a great visual.

Tim: 9.5. Daniel has come in with a relatively traditional, yet powerhouse redesign. I’m with Dean and Vito on almost everything here. The only thing that keeps this from being a perfect 10 for me is the monstrous webbed feet. I think they go a little too far, and this costume might benefit from more humanoid feet. But the rest of this costume captures the essence of Aquaman—regal, dangerous, aquatic, ready for battle—without going so far away from his classic look as to be unrecognizable. Good stuff.

Combined with this guy:

Maybe gym jones worked with him recently for a movie.

maybe it was this one.

I can't wait to see some badass staff/spear/trident fighting, with AM's strength behind it.

Jason Momoa was shirtless for all of Conan The Barbarian
