But WB did let those Schumacher Batman movies pass.
That's because Batman and Robin was a great sequel to the Adam West movie. Batman Forever I will still say had a great script and story. It's problem was visually then anything else.

Yeah, well Variety can "confirm" it all they want to, but until it's in a press release from WB or confirmed by Snyder&Co. directly, I'm not gonna cheer quite yet...

Exactly. It's like some don't understand the definition of "confirmed" or "official".

I'm super sick of the "let's make him edgy" mentality.
I want the classic looking Aquaman.

Aquaman is one of the heroes where I'm perfectly fine with changing his costume. The original duds are beyond ridiculous, not only are the colors clashing nastily but the get up absolutely makes no sense for a marine enviroment. Scale maille? bronze metal duds... in the sea... really?

'Aquaman' Movie Hooks Two Writers (Exclusive)

Will Beall, who wrote "Gangster Squad," and Kurt Johnstad, who wrote "300: Rise of an Empire," are tackling two separate scripts for Warner Bros.

Will Beall and Kurt Johnstad are sleeping with the fishes.

The scribes are writing – separately - scripts forAquaman, one of the installments of Warner Bros’ multi-movie scheme to create a cinematic universe based on the DC Entertainment characters.

Aquaman is being developed on dual tracks, where studios and producers hire two separate writers to work on a project in the hopes of getting the best version.

One of the reasons for the practice is the setting of release dates while the project is still in development and giving it a muscular push. Warners needs just that as last week it dated nine untitled DC movies between 2016 and 2020.

Warners is not revealing which one of those will be Aquaman but the first untitled DC movie is due for release on Aug. 5, 2016 and two in 2017 (June 23 and Nov. 17, respectively.)

So, what's the deal here? They're working seperately? Are they basically writing outlines or what?

Separately. I think it was mentioned in a recent article that WB was/would be doing that with some of their movies. In the end they can use the one they like the most or combine elements from both.

Hot Hollywood Trend: Two Scripts, One Movie

Are two heads truly better than one? Warner Bros. hired writers Adam Cozad and Craig Brewer to each pen separate scripts for Tarzan, now in preproduction with Alexander Skarsgard and Margot Robbie starring. The studio preferred Cozad's action and structure elements and Brewer's characterization, so it fused both drafts. (Cozad now is working with director David Yates to finalize the film.)

And Tarzan isn't alone. Universal's The Mummy reboot also had two scribes, Jon Spaihts and Billy Ray, working concurrently before the studio focused on Spaihts' draft. Warners simultaneously is developing a live-action Scooby-Doo reboot, with a script by Randall Green, and an animated theatrical feature. Executives and agents say double hirings are on the rise partly because of the demands of the tentpole era. Dates for movies often are set while projects still are in development, creating urgency to move fast. And with reboots and reimaginings, studios sometimes ask for multiple takes before jigsawing the scripts together.

"It's not an epidemic, but it's definitely a newer phenomenon," says one studio-based exec. And it's not going away anytime soon. Insiders say that Warners also is using the method for its supersecret DC Comics projects. New Regency is taking the process to the next level on an untitled relationship comedy that would pair Brad Pitt and Sandra Bullock in what is said to be a War of the Roses-like story. Sources say that Regency is on the hunt for one writer to capture the male character's voice and another for the female voice. But in this case, rather than have the writers work competitively, the company is hoping the two will collaborate -- at first, at least.

Smart, imo. Especially the combining the best elements from multiple scripts.

Beall or Johnstad?

*Expectations adjusted accordingly*

300 is at least watchable and fun, so I'd go with Johnstad.

Who knows...there may be cool aspects to each script. That's the advantage to this approach I guess.

I preferred Gangster Squad, mainly for the cast.

You can tell me you love Eva Green all you want, but 300 RoaE was dull.

This agree with.
Change the green to Black and wala the colors mesh

And the guys writing Doctor Strange were responsible for Sahara, Dylan Dog and the new Conan... who knows how the end result might be?
