Well, short of WB coming out and saying it for themselves I think this is as pretty rock solid for me

Never would have thought that we'd be questioning the Flash's role in a live action film instead of Aquaman.

I wonder whose decision it was to include Aquaman. I would have thought Aquaman was one of the last characters WB would want to bring to the big screen.

Who knows. I really do think they set him up in Man of Steel

I think it's safe to say he'll have some solid justification for his actions after MOS.

That really applies to all of the heroes in the film, including Superman himself. Lex too.

I'm not sure about that. Aquaman inhabits a very visually spectacular environment, which brings a whole new vista to the world which these characters inhabit. The character himself is very distinct from the other heroes, with an obvious "niche", while his status as the king of another world lays the ground for dramatic conflict with the otherwise human-centric JL.

The downside is that Aquaman is usually cited as a figure of mockery, but the same goes for most of the DCU apart from Batman, at the moment. If these movies are supposed to be redemptive in some way, then there is probably no better place to start than Aquaman. It should be easy for Snyder et al to defy expectations.

To me it's very easy...aquaman is the one character Marvel hasn't beaten WB to the punch yet....Thor is Superman, Cap is Batman...Sif is WW, Quicksilver is Flash...Marvel hasn't done Namor yet so Aquaman won't seem like an imitation.

I strongly doubt that this is anywhere in their thinking, because studios like nothing more than copying something that has already been tried and tested.

In any case, I don't understand what kind of Elseworlds chronology you are using in which Captain America appeared in movies before Batman, or Thor before Superman.

it was different in my head than what I typed.

I don't think WB chooses their DC characters based on what Marvel is doing. I know people make the quick and easy assumption. I think they have been trying to get JL off the ground well before Avengers. When they saw the success of The Avengers did it up their motivation to go back to JL again? I'm sure. However, the JL lineup has included the following in their different lineups long before Avengers... and a huge success in animated projects: Superman, Batman, Flash, WW, GL, Aquaman, Cyborg, and Martian Manhunter.

Oh the website that shall not be named in the link is not working.

Snyder defending aquaman, just validated that he'll be in the Justice League.
