The Dark Knight Jett finally gives us something to talk about! (ie Harvey Dent)

I suspect that most of the people who are complaining about BOF are people who started visiting in 2004/2005, when we were getting piles and piles of official news all the time. As such, they think that's the norm, and it isn't.

It's a really simple equation: there is no factual news to report. Jett can't report what doesn't exist, so he has to report speculation and rumour. Anyone who visited before the 04/05 period would know that this is standard fare for the early stages of production. There are going to be a lot of reports that don't pan out, just like there were a lot back in 2002-2003.

The people in this thread (and others) seem to think Jett is choosing to post rumours instead of facts, but the truth is he's choosing to post rumours instead of NOTHING. Those are the options he has: rumours, or nothing. I, personally, prefer rumours--because at least that's potential news--over nothing.

*APPLAUDS*

Exactly.

I think I'll run down some of the more classic false reports from back in the day...

1. Batman's moving cowl. There were at least two reports that Batman would wear a prosthetic cowl built in such a way that it would change shape and move with his face. A "mood cowl" if you will.

2. Clint Eastwood as who? There were reports that cast Clint Eastwood first as the mayor of Gotham, then as Gordon, and even "the main villain."

3. The return of Michael Gough. For months it was rumoured that Gough would reprise his role as Alfred.

4. Egghead! There was a report that WWE wreslter Edge would play Egghead. Some people even took it seriously.

5. My personal favourite: a rumour from May 2003 that Nolan and Heath Ledger met to discuss him playing Batman.

And here are a few others for good measure: Dennis Quaid for Gordon, John Malkovich as the Scarecrow, Guy Pearce as Batman (times one hundred), Michelle Pfeiffer returning as Catwoman, and, of course, repeated rports that there would be no more sculpted rubber (wish that one had come true).

My point it that the people moaning really need to get over it. We're going to get nothing but rumours for a while yet.

He wasn't off. There *really was* supposed to be an announcement, but something happened that made Nolan and co. bring the announcement to a hault.

I'm asking this sincerely, how do you know this?

If it was Dent casting, then they obviously lost their first choice (to scheduling, or just flat-out "I don't want the DAMN role"), but if it wasn't casting at all, then who knows what made them back off.

It was Dent casting, hence Jett saying that the role of Dent has been cast and to check the trades daily for the announcement.

1. Thanks for reminding me that it was Harvey Dent casting.

2. Jett has been saying for a while that Harvey Dent was supposed to be announced, but something made Nolan & co. back off (like I said, either scheduling, or denying the role...just because). Hey...just because the guy runs a rumour site, doesn't mean he doesn't know sh**. The guy knows sh**, but out of respect for WB, he keeps quite for the time being.

Law as Batman villain? that's hilarious. that sop belongs in romantic comedies

Well, looks like Jett is backing off his Bailey and Foxx stuff - Colin Farrell will probably end up getting the part.....

I think I've discovered the truth about who's playing Dent.

The truth is... no one is playing Dent. No one. In fact, they're not even making another Batman movie, this whole thing is just a cover-up for The Prestige 2.

Nah you can't say **** enough times in a PG-13:woot:

That's true my friend......:yay:

Truth be told, I wouldn't mind him in the role. My favorites are still Shreiber, Phoenix, Cusack, and Matt Dillon.

I wouldn't mind him either and your other suggestions are on point as well,i just hope it's cast soon so we can get on with things

When are they starting filming? I mean, you would think there would be news by now..

Sunday, January 14, 2007 - 6:00 AM, 11:55 AM: According to the fansite LACK-OF-SURPRISE.COM, Bailey himself says he knows nothing about these Harvey Dent rumors...

As far as Jamie Foxx is concerned, dude is on tour through April 5th (Staples Center, Los Angeles, CA). And according to the site JFTOUR.DECOSTAINC.COM, more dates will be added to his schedule. So, does this prevent him from working on TDK? Of course, there's the matter of him actually being up for the part in the first place...

Here's the link:

Okay, after all the rumors on the comicbook sites and on the batman on film site, we checked to see if Eion is up for the role of Harvey Dent (a.k.a Two-Face). Unfortunately, Eion doesn't know anything about it and thus it means that most likely the rumors are false. (Of course it could be that Chris Nolan is considering Eion, but hasn't made contact yet, but we doubt it). http://www.lack-of-surprise.com/bailey/

Here's some crappy news BTW, Bailey should get it if Foxx and Norton not getting the role.

You know, it's probably Hugh Jackman. Think about it. It's so painfully obvious.
People keep suggesting that Nolan started the Prestige PRECISELY after Batman Begins, so he could discuss Dark Knight stuff with Bale and Caine while on the set. That way they ''unofficially'' got a head start, and didn't have to worry about major crap once production starts.

So, there's no doubt in MY mind, that Nolan probably had his eye on Jackman when he was casting the Prestige. I dare say that Scarlett Johanssen and Piper Perabo are going to be thrown into this mix eventually, too.

Hell, I'm gonna go a step further and say that if it's NOT Hugh Jackman, then it would HAVE to be Guy Pearce. I'll send a check for $10 to each Hype member if I'm wrong. Hugh Jackman OR Guy Pearce.... guaranteed.

Given Hugh's schedule, I don't think it's him.

Guy, though? I think we have a winner. Nolan really went out of his way to praise him during an interview for the Prestige. I got the impression he thinks Guy hasn't been given his due, which I would heartily agree with. :woot:

I see Pearce everytime I see this pic of Dent/Two-Face:

Oh, I completely agree with that. It seems like Guy hasn't been ''put on the map'' yet, like Bale has. Bale has American Psycho, Batman Begins, and The Machinist under his belt... I can't think of anything that Pearce has been involved in other than Memento and Ravenous (which rules, by the way :cwink:).

So, if Hugh's schedule is as busy as you say it is, then I think there shouldn't be any discussion at all about who's gonna be Dent. Guy Pearce, hands down, 100% guaranteed.

PLUS, Nolan listened to us when we wanted Bale, and sure enough, Bale is our new Batman. We were craving for Guy Pearce for Dent looong before Batman Begins was even released, so if Nolan was listening to THAT too, then it's obviously Guy Pearce.
