I like Jett and everything but this stuff is starting to give me a big headache.
It would be truly the funniest thing ever if it ended up being...Guy Pearce.t:
Well, he knows who it is based on that comment - obviously it could be crap, since everything that Jett has said so far really hasn't happened. Heck, even the reliable Latino Review took a dump with the whole script review thing.
I hope he's telling the truth because I didn't want Norton, Foxx, or Bailey anyway.
I did come across a Prestige interview with Nolan where he went out of his way to praise Guy (rightfully, I might add) for his performance in Memento. The timing was...odd to me. So, there's good grounds to think it could end up being him.Yeah secretley Nolan casts Guy Pearce as Dent and internet posters saying "Woah, Nolan was talking to Pearce along" I would be very happy if Pearce got it.
But hell who knows...Cillian Murphy wasn't my choice for Scarecrow (Jeff Goldblum) but he knocked it out the park. So why can't a black actor, Latino actor, or Asian actor, whoever impress me just the same? Get my drift? I'm willing to be openminded and give them a chance, but see why I'm objective towards Foxx is he's use to playing this slick, cool, jive-talking characters, but he hasn't had a character that is in your face and is a total freak that could shoot up a shopping mall in a second. Clive Owen, Liev Schrieber, Joaquin Phoenix, and Guy Pearce all have played roles where they are generally scary bad-ass people you would not want to doublecross or mess with.
Not that I'm for Foxx getting it, but according to Nolan's logic with Ledger (who had never done a role like Joker), Foxx fits. He's got a chance to surprise audiences and prove himself as a very well-rounded actor by playing a character completely different than his past film roles..
I'm just saying, it kinda makes sense..
Time to check other sites guys and gals for the breaking news. If its cast, it'll leak.
cough*Law or owen got it*cough
Well, Heath has only sold me on Joker because of his talk about playing Joker like "A Clockwork Orange." Of course we'll see if he actually becomes "a shark" and other buzzwords and sentences he's used to describe how he's going to play Joker.
Foxx to me doesn't have what Clive Owen had in "SIN CITY" or "INSIDE MAN." I mean watch him as Dwight in "SIN CITY." He is a charming yet precarious. He's smooth yet lethal. He's a loaded gun ready to fire. He's a knife ready to stab someone in the back.
Also, watch him in "INSIDE MAN" where he tells Denzel Washington to get his gun out of his face. The guy is a loose cannon and that's someone who should play Harvey Dent/Two-Face.
Like I said Foxx could play Harvey Dent really well, but as for Two-Face I don't think he could pull it off. Edward Norton I could see however pulling off both. He's played really deranged characters who can break at anytime in a split second. To me Norton is more cut out for the role than Foxx and Bailey.
Jett from BOF said:(re: Phillipe) He's not gettin the part, but how is RP "teenybopping?" The man is over 30 for pete's sake! What teen-flick has he been in of late?
As far as who will be Dent, I have no earthly idea -- really. Look, I tell y'all what I hear as I've done for almost 9 years. There's no "smokescreen" from me, Nolan, or WB as I've said. It's not like they've focused on one guy for every role. There are discussions about so and so actor. It leaks -- sometimes on purpose to gauge interest. It's leaked by actors and even agents (surprise!).
I'm going to keep doing what I've been doing for years. #1, I lobby for the continuation of GOOD Batman films. And #2, I try to give the fans some sort of voice and let them know what is going on.
I must be doing something right of late, the hate email has picked up again!
Look you can like Foxx and whoever else for Dent and I'll keep the people who I want for Dent. Foxx, Denzel, Samuel L., Will Smith, Laurence Fishburne, and Taye Diggs and whoever else are all talented African-American actors, but I don't want them for Dent. If they got picked I wouldn't just skip out on the movie, I'll be there opening day to see it, but I still wouldn't be happy that I'm not seeing the definitive Dent.
It's not about race or who could play it better. It's just there are some people in the comic-book world and universe who want to see "Their Dent." Obviously, you and others couldn't care less who gets picked which is fine because you have that right, but others have certain people and ideas of who they want as Dent and how he should be portrayed like me.
If Foxx gets it than good for him. If Norton or Bailey get it than good for them. I just want the part to get casted and Latinoreview or Aintitcool.com to do a script-review of the movie already.
No he isn't.JackBauer24 said:but Foxx is a racist a-hole.
Don't blame him if there's nothing more concrete to announce or that he's allowed to announce. The only reason he's giving us these names is either because they are legitimate or because fans have been complaining about the lack of info and he wants to keep us talking.I'm done with BOF, and Jett.
The last OFFICIAL thing we heard was on August 20, when we heard it was called ''The Dark Knight'', and that Ledger was the Joker.
From August 20 to now - January 13 - almost SIX MONTHS later - a half a YEAR - we've been getting nothing but ''So and so MIGHT get this, or so and so MIGHT get that,'' and absolutely NOTHING is solid.
''Take this with a grain of salt.''
''Take that with a grain of salt.''
''Lachey Hulme.''
''Paul Bettany.''
''Jamie Foxx.''
''Ryan Philippe.''
''Phillip Seymore Hoffman.''
''Ed Norton.''
''Denzel Wshington.''
Why should I even bother going to BOF's newspage everyday if I keep seeing stupid, uninformed nonsense like this? The answer is: I shouldn't.... so therefore, I won't. I'm done with 'em.
