The Force Awakens John Boyega as Finn

Has Boyega signed a multi picture deal? I just saw an interview where he said he hasn't.

It's pretty standard that given this is a trilogy he would have to sign a multi-picture deal. Considering he's an unknown, he had no leverage to negotiate.

Maybe Disney wanted the see the reaction for the main leads before committing to multi picture deal.

Now they're (Boyega/Ridley) in a better position to ask for more money, etc….

Boyega has been extremely helpful at promoting this with his charismatic personality. This kinda puts Disney at a disadvantage, money/negotiation-wise, if he only originally signed on for one, and i just can't see them being this naive.

I believe Disney had both Boyega and Ridley locked in for multiple films from the get go. Oscar Isaac might be the one who only got a one film deal, as his character was originally supposed to die in the Jakku crash…

Bodega talks about working with Rian Johnson but says he isn't signed a multi picture deal. He's probably lying. I'll try and find the link for the interview.

Finn is force sensitive. He fought the FO's brainwashing that's been going on since he was a young child. Along with all of his other remarkable feats.

I agree Finn is definitive force sensitive. He showed that he wasn't weak minded and was able to resist the FO's programming. He caught the attention of Kylo Ren to the extent he even remembered his number, and he picked up on the use of weaponry pretty quickly.

I think he's force sensitive. I think it will be revealed the force is how he broke the life long brainwashing of the Order and weild the light saber with a degree of skill.

I'm speculating that in the long run he's going to be a big factor in the emotional relationship between Rey, Kylo Ren and bringing balance to the force.

Really don't get the Finn is force sensitive theory/argument. Makes me feel like I missed something watching this movie. I just didn't see anything that even suggested it. Yeah he's a soldier who can fight, but force abilities? Not from what I saw. So what if he wielded the lightsaber for a couple of scenes? Clear misdirection for the big Rey reveal. She's the character getting the force storyline. From what I can tell Finn will be getting a resistance storyline which will probably lead to some kind of confrontation with phasma. Don't see him joining the Rey/Luke vs Kylo/Snoke story that obviously is coming.

He has a degree of skill with a light sabre and I don't think a normal person would have had the mental strength to escape the brain washing. He is probably the first storm trooper to escape their conditioning ever.

A degree of skill (not a large degree by any means) can be put down to undergoing combat training almost his entire life. Escaping the conditioning just felt like a personality thing, not a Force thing.

In the Before The Awakening novel, Finn is already aware that he is different than the other Stormtroopers, doesn't want to kill civilians, and wants to help the weak.

In what way does that tie into the Force, though?

I kind of want Finn to stay just a regular guy. I don't think you need to be force sensitive to be special and do good. That kind of suggests in the Star Wars universe, you can only do these things if you're force sensitive. Finn just grew a conscience and wanted out. I like that Rey is the only force user of the new three.

If Finn eventually uses a lightsaber and blaster combination, that would be epic.

He was the worst character in this film, for me anyway.

Finn works really well as the everyman audience surrogate. Giving him force abilities might detract from that.

Though I actually have a crazy inclination that Poe could have force sensitivity because of his ridiculously good piloting skills and the fact that he grew up with a force-sensitivity tree in his home (from Shattered Empire). That probably won't be the case though.

Each to their own. He was one of the best characters for me because he was normal rather than being brilliant at something or in the case of Rey, brilliant at everything.

I need to be able to relate to the character, that's why I was so engaged with Die Hard 1 but have checked out of the sequels because he is Super McClane.

For me, it was the over-acting. Especially in the beginning of the film, just felt so forced and out of place. The guy was at a 10 almost the entire time and needed to take it down a notch during various sequences.

I liked the concept of a rogue storm trooper though. I just didn't particularly like his execution of it.

Boyega has been overly coy at times. He wouldn't even confirm he would be back for the sequels until recently. He said he has read the script for the next movie. Given how tight security is around the Star Wars scripts Boygea wouldn't of read the script if he wasn't coming back

He was amazing in the film. Loved his enthusiasm and the energy he exuded

Finn was Awakened, he will get Force powers, he is just untrained.

Just saw the movie.
First, well done Lando, Han will probably never know !
I like the character, he had humor and gave a genuine feeling to go with the flow ( like Luke in ANH ).
I think that Finn is at least Force sensitive if not Force user otherwise his skills with the light saber and his fight versus Kylo clash with SW lore ( no ordinary people can use a LS like he did ), it would also explain his breaking from Imperial/New Order conditioning but I guess he will just be a regular guy.
