I honestly feel like 4 is just the start of a new trilogy, as it feels like the actual next chapter in the story.

Saw it a second time last night. This is probably my fave film of 2019 so far. What they have accomplished with John wick is nothing short of amazing. Easily one of the best franchises of all time and one of the most consistent.

What an incredible movie. Best movie of 2019! My favorite movie of 2019!

I was kind of surprised that Halle Berry didn't have a larger role in this.

After a second viewing this is cemented into second place in the franchise and I love chapter 2 so thats no mean feat but the first and third acts are so much fun and even the "weak" second act has that awesome Dog-fu scene and Bronn being a lot of fun. One of my fave action films and a series up there with the Bournes, Bonds and MI's of this world.

Easily 9/10 perhaps even higher at times. That knife fight is so well done and thought out with such a great conclusion. Going to rank my top 5 action set pieces later on after some more thought, not easy lol.

That knife fight is one of the greatest fight sequences in the history of cinema.

I also think it's time for John Wick himself to get some kind of break. I know that we really don't need to inject any realism into this already over-the-top concept, but the events of all 3 films so far have taken place in a 2-3 week span of time.

With the amount of damage Wick's body has taken in a these films (especially at the end of this one), here's hoping the guy can get a couple of weeks/months to recover somewhere before launching back into action.

Fairly certain there is going to be a time jump with chapter 4.

I'm a huge fan of this series, and while the production value in this one has substantially increased, I have to say the movie just wasn't as good as the first two. The action scnes in this one are top notch, and I love that they are giving Fishburn a larger role in this than he had in part 2. There's some great bits of dark humor and Zero is an awesome villain in this, but there was somuch randomness and meandering with the story lines that to me it comes up short of the first two. Still I'm very impressed with the box office showing and I love the character which is the best role Reeves has ever done. I'm very much looking forward to the series continuing.

He is an angel in what he has faced and still rises to meet his challenges and thus making our lives that little bit brighter.
Definitely. In some ways, I feel like John Wick is such a personal role for Keanu. I mean, Keanu has faced tragedy in his life, on more than one instance, so I think this is almost a way for him to release all of that.

To be able to physically deal with a script that covers virtually the carbon copy of your own loss and channel that is remarkable, and people say he's limited in his range. *shakes head*.

So here is my take on my top 5 action scenes from across the series so far with some reasons why, interested to see what other folk have in their top scenes:

1. Italy catacombs (Chapter 2)
giphy-2.gif

Showcasing John at his absolute meticulous best, not only showing the insane escape itself but also how he pre-planned his entire escape from taking down his target to carefully placing each weapon he would need in optimum position, yeah he's back to his best.

2. Nightclub (JW)

A good nightclub shootout is always potential for some great action and this is probably the most iconic set piece for JW in the first movie, they know he's coming for them but they cant stop him still, a hunter after his prey.

3. Museum knife fight (Chapter 3)
giphy.gif

In the bonkers opening 15 minutes of Chapter 3 this stands out as probably the best, something a little unique with little gunplay but a whole lot of knife play instead, inventive, beautifully shot and with bone crunching effects and even some humor thrown in for good measure to make this a memorable scene.

4. Morroco dog attack (Chapter 3)
John_Wick_9.gif

John takes a back seat for once and lets the dogs to the talking as they along with Sofia take center stage to bring down a group of bad guys determined to stop them, incredible choreography between man and animal to give another unique twist on the Wickiaction.

5. Home invasion (JW)

First introduction to John and what he can do, sets the tone for the action for the entire series, this is something a little different with wide angle, long takes to let you take in all the in camera action with JW hunting his prey on a group of guys that broke into the wrong home.

My inappropriate and incoherent thoughts, I'm just gonna clean those a lot because what I psoted on letterboxd is unrepeatable :funny: :

-I was so relieved when the dog was sent to safety at the beginning but omg when the hotel wasn't safe anymore I was like GET THE DOG TO THE PANIC ROOM and then like 5 minutes later they reveal they were already in the safe vault. Why cause me stress? Have I not been through enough when one of the dogs almost got shot? MY GOD!
- how amazing was Swegen's psychodelic crib?
- Keanu takes his belt off TWICE and had he done it again I'd not only get pregnant but also gave birth right there in the cinema
- a man can survive on the desert on Halle Berry's spit and that is something no one can question
- they should get awards for sound design. Every punch, every crack, every slash, you could feel it.
- the main antagonist was so in awe of Wick I thought it will reach Single White Female levels and he will wear a black wig to look like him or something
- Halle Berry's dogs were AMAZING. Every time they bit a guy in the balls a year was added to my life
- they really amped the gore in this one. Oh man, the eye!
- a lot of funny moments too - horse kick!
- Swegen drinking good booze and keeping the dog company while dodging that *****'s' calls as all hell is breaking loose outside is a major MOOD
- Laurence Fishburne has been in TWO of those movies and I still don't know what the deal is with his character. Who is he? Why does he hang out with hobos? Who the **** is he sending all those pigeons to?
- at times things in this movie got so weird I was wondering if I was still in sexual delirium that I entered when John was stitching himself - I mean he was on a desert, in a suit, met that dude from Wonder Woman, cut his finger off and got another suit. I had no idea what was going on but I loved it
- and finally owwwww when the dog was licking his face!

I liked it more than Chapter 2 but not as much as Chapter 1 but largely that is because I felt every single kill Wick delivered there was FOR that puppy and I was like "YEAH! KILL THEM!" but I'm fine with stakes not being as high if it means not traumatizing me again :funny: Also wonderful that McShane had more to do

Yup. That takes skill, talent, and GUTS, which Keanu has in spades

That's why Pixar got him.

My mom is in blind rage whenever she watches that comedy with him and Diane Keaton

"WHO THE **** CHOOSES JACK NICHOLSON OVER THIS GUY?!" is verbatim her rant every time :funny:
