People had theorized that he might have been due to being around the orphan kids so much. Awesome to finally see it confirmed.

Based on the John Blake = time-traveling Mr. Earle theory.

I think that the gun may reveal a clue about John Blake's character, but he may not be Earle. He might be another guy, out for revenge on the bad guys of Gotham.

To Bane: "You and your friends are dead!"

Hmm. If he turns out to be Grayson, why would he call himself John Blake instead?
Dick's full-name is Richard John (after his father) Grayson and many people drop their first name if they favor their middle ones. This could be a tribute to his late father. As for the Blake, it's not too much of a stretch that he was fostered or adopted by a family of Blake's. There could also be other reason's for changing a surname, like if his parents were murdered by the mob.

The thing is, as we learn more about Blake, it would almost seem like a missed opportunity for it not to be Grayson and make this film series truly definitive.

Also "Blake" rhymes with "Drake." :sus

Really?? I respectfully disagree. Robin is not definitve of what makes Batman, and I dont think not including Dick Grayson would make this film any less definitive. That's like saying you cant have Batman without Robin, and that's just not true.

Ra's al Ghul became a legend by having many men devoted to taking up his mantle.

What is the first thing Christopher Nolan reminded us about? What was the first piece of footage we saw in relation to TDKR? Bruce Wayne walking the mountains, with Ra's al Ghul's words: "If you make yourself more than just a man (more than one man), if you devoted yourself to an ideal...you become a legend."

All good, but they devoted themselves to taking up his cause, not his mantle. Which Blake will do for Batman. But not as Batman.

Then how did Ra's al Ghul survive through centuries, if other men didn't take up his mantle? In Begins, Neeson's character talks of the League of Shadows being responsible for the sacking of Rome. Are you suggesting that Liam Neeson's character was alive back then?

Batman Begins suggests that Ra's al Ghul is simply a rank, and Neeson's character is the latest to hold that position. It's Nolan's realistic take on the concept of immortality.
