Yeah, a plant creature that used to be a white guy, a dead white guy, a CGI demon whose host is a white guy, a powerful white female magician, and a white British detective/con man. Such diversity.

Diversity speaking, I believe the rumor a while back was they were looking for an ethnic actress as Zatanna (Ruth Negga would be ideal). Of course, this was all before Liman took over, but it's clear the DCEU isn't opposed to race-swapping.

On a serious note characters like Madame Xanadu, Black Orchid and Dr Mist were actually on the team for more than 10 issues. It makes sense to use them but I guess DC is going another route and using Swamp Thing (only appeared for 3 issues), and Etrigan (wasn't a member at all). Then again they did the same with Suicide Squad. Katana and Croc were never on the Squad and Diablo only had a few appearances but in the latter's case it added diversity to the DCEU. I'm curious to see if the rumored characters are the line-up they go with.

You know what's a travesty? Using characters that were never a part of the team (Etrigan) or only appeared in 3 issues (Swamp Thing) over a character that started the team (Madame Xanadu) and characters that were a big part of the comic (Black Orchid, Dr Mist).

And I have no idea what you mean by lesser characters? Are they lesser because they're minorities? Are they lesser because they're newer characters? Are they lesser because they're mainly unknown?

If its the last one, and I sincerely hope it is, then I'd argue that every single member of the JLD are unknown characters or unproven (in Constantine's case) .

Considering she is a new character created during the New52 specifically for the JLD her power set isnt too set in stone.

I'd say she is a mixture of movie Mystique and Mr Fantastic with a little bit of Poison Ivy thrown in abilities wise.

Okay. Because that might be a reason why they'd avoid having her in this film, if she possesses too many similarities to Swamp Thing.

This particular line up are all characters I want to see, dare I say, done well in live action so that's good enough for me.

Diversification is great, but the roster is the main draw for me in this one.

I mean, I could get mad that Dr. Fate isn't in here. But I also understand that Dr. Fate is extremely powerful. He's a Superman/Martian Manhunter tier character. I can accept that he isn't in this if the stakes, scope, and scale don't warrant it.

So whatever.

Insinuate that I'm a bigot if it makes you feel better. Doesn't change the fact that you and people like you push ****** characters solely because of their diversity.

If it makes people like you stop complaining, change the race of Zatanna, Swamp Thing, Deadman and Jason Blood. I really don't care. Keep Constantine blonde and white though please. His look is iconic and intrinsic to his character IMO.

For the record Madame Xanadu is awesome and totally worthy of being on the team.

Name said characters that "people like me" push because of diversity. Im curious...

As for ***** characters well that is a matter of opinion and honestly I feel it makes far more sense to include characters like Black Orchid and Dr Mist instead of making White characters Hispanic or Black. Not to mention they have a history with the team. For the record I hate race swapping with a burning passion! It's insulting and counter productive.

Having a diverse cast worked wonders for Suicide Squad and with a property as unknown as Dark Universe they can use all the help they can get. Besides for all we know Black Orchid could resonate with audiences and become popular in a similar way El Diablo did!

I think the fact that Del Toro is involved should count. This movie is going to have a lot of full body costumes/ CGI though.

Zatanna doesn't have an ethnicity anyway. She's like a magical X-Man LOL (Homomagi as opposed to Homosaipien).

So whatever. Una Latina ta bien, pero la verdad es que no me importa la raça de ella. As long as she's fyne asf and the characterization is on point, I don't care.

I do hope Dr. Fate and the Phantom Stranger show up eventually. I've always found those characters fascinating and they tend to be a bit underused. I feel like either of them (or both) could date really well in their own TV series.

I wouldn't bet on it happening outside of hinting or setting up a solo film. Like I said earlier, way too powerful.
