Let me preface by saying this: please read the disclaimer above. Did you read it? Good! Let me emphasize that part that says “unless otherwise noted, all BATMAN movie news should be considered rumor and treated as such.” So please remember, we do report rumors. However, the buzz we report comes from sources that we’ve known for a long while and have been dead on accurate in the past. The rumors are simply part of the fun and the build up towards the next Bat-flick, right? When I tell y’all to chisel something in stone, go buy the damn hammer! And please don’t think I’m being condescending here, OK? While I KNOW most of you get it, some of my dear readers don’t -- and they let me know it in their emails.
Now, on with today’s report…
I’m going to simply list several of his blurbs -- some will be quotes, others will consist of me paraphrasing “Jindrak.”
“With the inclusion of the Joker & the general public’s renewed interest, Warner know & appreciate more than ever the importance of listening to the fans & leaving Chris & David to get on with it!”
Paul Bettany is “in the mix” for the part of The Joker. As he himself recently, it’s all about money and negotiating power. It’s not lost on anyone that he’s one of the fan faves for the role.
“As for Josh Lucas and the role of Harvey Dent, I’ve been informed that Christian is very much behind Josh, having worked with him on AMERICAN PSYCHO. If the fans are just as passionate about him getting the role of Harvey as Josh is, then its a very good chance he will be the new DA of Gotham City.”
As it has been reported here and on other sites, work is “well underway” on The Sequel. In the coming months, “speculation will be rife regarding various roles within the sequel & it's plot, which is to be expected.”
So strap yourself in boys, it’s going to get wild!

I dunno about you guys but I'm warming up to the idea of Josh Lucas. I still like the idea of Schreiber too, though. I'd be fine with either one as Dent.

Glad to hear Bettany is back in the running, he's has alot of potential for the role of Joker. Not because he's played villains in the past, or the fact that he's a tremendous actor. But he's one of the actors who can really deliver the presence of Joker well, spooky, psychotic, even humorous. If he does indeed land the role, I'll be statisfied.

As for Lucas as Dent, no complaints what so ever. Even though Schrieber is the ideal choice.

Though I prefer Schreiber as Dent, I don't mind the idea of Lucas playing the role. What certainly adds to the casting is the fact that Lucas and Bale have good chemistry together, as evident in 'American Psycho.'

While I'd love the role to go to Schreiber, Lucas would not make a bad Harvey Dent at all. I love his enthusiasm, and from his interviews he really seems to get the character already.

LOL!!! Hey, me too. But Norm, my man... we always knew Bettany was in the mix, didn't we? My sig still proudly proclaims Bettany, Dammit! Because, well, BETTANY, DAMMIT!

Well, I think it's time for me to weigh in on the Josh Lucas for Dent rumors. I've spoken before only in the most superficial of ways on this subject, saying that I didn't have any problem with the idea but neither was I sold on it.

I like Josh Lucas. I have no problem with the guy at all. I liked him in Secondhand Lions (with Michael Caine, natch) and I liked him in Hulk. I will say that Lucas is not exactly my mental image of Harvey (I always imagine Harvey as a bigger, darker guy, something like Schreiber, I suppose -- or my main man Billy Dee) but Lucas has some good qualities going for him in the Dent department.

Harvey is supposed to be suave, slick, kind of a ladies' man. But he's also a man's man, that is, he's enjoys sports and booze and cigars. And the thing about Josh Lucas... while he's prettier and fairer complected than I generally consider Harvey to be, I think slick and manly both come fairly natural to him, and as has been stated before, he's worked with Bale and Bale likes the guy, and they're comfortable working together.

Bottom line? Lucas is for real. I know they'll look at Schreiber because so many people like him for the role, and if BB proved anything it's that they're being conscious about the fan voice, but Lucas is definitely a serious contender. It'll be interesting to see him play the role if he does in fact get it.

Oh, and one more thing:

Bettany is going to PWN as the Joker.
